Besides the live showcase which will air on Abema TV, Rocket Punch will also have a 10-episode series called Rocket Punch Fly to Japan which can be viewed (unsubbed) here: https://abema.tv/channels/special-p...w_rocketpunch0808_ap_free_slot_E1k1kb6CBh8njH I believe it's all free? However it does really want the viewer to download the Abema TV app. In other news, Rocket Punch fairly recently got a fansubbing team and their first project is Rocket Punch Fly to Japan! The subbing team goes by Ketchy Launch on YouTube.
I'm sorry, but why did it feel like once again, Juri didn't get lines for the JP debut? Did I miss that she hasn't been feeling well? She barely got any camera time either? Can someone explain to me so I can stop feeling...weird?
I certainly can't explain, but I do feel the same way. It seems to me like what happened to Hiichan and Nako in Iz*One is happening here too. Juri got a nice amount of lines and center time on their debut song because she was by far the most popular member, already having a fanbase and all. As soon as the others start gaining fans, she gets dropped and I don't understand why. You would think she would have lines on a japanese single, but nope.
Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one. And my feelings exactly. She was amazing throughout debut, but, she keeps looking hidden every single comeback and now it looks even worse for the Japanese single, something she is fluent in and nope.
I agree. The only thing that comes to mind is that they must not find Juri as skilled as the other members, so they give her the bare minimum of lines disguised behind a small center position at a certain point throughout the song and give the rest to the other members. It's pretty clear she only gets the shortest lines with no proper amount of time to shine, though.
Line distribution video I saw broke it down like this... Yunkyoung 25.31% Suyun 23.11% Dahyun 20.59% Juri 17.49% Yeonhee 8.93% Sohee 4.57% The gap between Juri and #1 is 7.82%. The gap between her and last place is 12.92%. Definitely not the shortest lines. Looking at poor Sohee there.
This is Juri's best line distribution/screen time since debut actually. Even in the lines where multiple people are singing her voice is quite prominent, I think some chorus lines even end with her voice pushed to the front. There's no screentime distribution yet for the single, so I did it manually myself. In solo/focus+center time she's 2nd, only behind Suyun who has that long section at the bridge. Across all singles she's still second to last overall for both lines and screentime, but they definitely didn't hide her in this one. Sohee had the least amount of lines and screentime in this one, she's always low but this is the first time she's last in both. This is what I got checking the screentime: Suyun: 31.12 = 15,9% Juri: 26.99 = 13,8% Yunkyoung: 25.65 = 13.1% Dahyun: 19.48 = 9.9% Yeonhee: 18.69 = 9.5% Sohee: 18.06 = 9,2% I used a very chungus-y method, so it's not as accurate as someone doing it with a video editor but it should be a good indicator at the very least. The percentage is of the total runtime of the video (minus the time spent on logos). This is actually pretty fair, even with the disparity between Suyun and Sohee. The top 3 are pretty close, and the bottom 3 are very close instead of having one person have significantly more or less. (the bridge part where Suyun is the only one awake got counted for Suyun time btw, since she's the focus there - I did check group shots too (3 members or more) and they make up 35% of the MV).
It just seems to me, without looking at it super closely, that Juri barely has any actual sentences to sing, which is strange considering she is the only Japanese member in the group. And it's still true that ever since debut they have been giving her very few lines, which makes me sad but that's just how I feel!
