Saito Asuka (Ashurin) / 1st Gen

I've only watched 100-225 and also forgot about the single hit campaign they did, I forgot there's Nogidoko as well so maybe there's more to it. Can't judge how their relationships is like outside their own shows or concerts though. Asuka also has that air like she prefers to be alone but at the same time, she doesn't seem to mind hanging out with other members. Tbh, I can't even tell if there's a member of Nogizaka whom she is very close to.

 

@Emperoro once she was close to Kiichan but then she become Nogi's ace, idk how their relationship now. She's even crying when talking about their relationship on Nogiten if i'm not mistaken. But it's around 10th single when she's still a young and cheerfull member lol

 

Probably became distant (not as close as before) ever since Asuka got older and matured. But she has become a bit more cheerful on recent episodes of Nogichuu and on her radio show POP OF THE WORLD.

Anyway, I want to share this video of her on TGC. She looked absolutely stunning with that hairstyle. For some reason she looked a lot younger but more matured without her bangs. Skip to 5:00 to see her part.

Yeah, whenever Asuka’s off-camera lifestyle is described, it seems very solitary. I think she truly likes other members and enjoys their company though, she’s just very introverted so it’s stressful or draining to initiate social interaction.

Besides Minami, I would’ve guessed she gets along best with Manatsu. She also loosens up a lot around Momoko and Yoda. But as you say, even if they get along well in the moment, I don’t know whether Asuka really opens up emotionally to other members. If there’s someone she became really close to, it would probably be through a private conversation like with Hinako, so we wouldn’t necessarily know about it, nor would she want to share.

 

Everyone gets along with Manatsu -- a heart of gold will win you over any and every time...

I think Asuka values privacy. She's not truly shy or introverted like Nishino is, but more low keyed and subtle. She's similar to Nanamin who, it was said, was her mentor.

I love that Asuka declares herself to be 'dark,' but enjoys laughing. I'm a fan of her being Nogi's ace, because she's such an enjoyable member to watch. I completely underestimate her. She surprises me in myriads of ways.

Lately, she has really become the beauty of Nogizaka. She's of the age where the bloom of youth is fading as she becomes mature. Pictures of her, now, stop you in your tracks.

Wasn't it said that Asuka was close with the 2nd Gen members who are all closer to her age. I think it was in one of the last Nogidoko episodes where they brought this up. Or was it the first NogiChu valentines?

Anyhow, I think Asuka is probably more approachable than say Nishino who always had a worried look...

Asuka is very reserved and tsundere that's why its hard to define her true emotions .

But from what I can perceive these are the members that are close to her through work or genuine friendship.

Kii - they have heart to heart talk in private in the past.
Minami and Maaya - as 1ki's youngest members they have quite a bond to each other and Maaya is a member of Nogidan.
Nogidan members- Asuka valued them to some regard.

Yodo- Asuka treats Yodo as A pet just like Nanase
Manatsu and Maiyan - as Elder sisters they are quite warm to her
Momoko - they have a lot of similarities in their personality. Her and Asuka's closeness have been highlighted in Radio and Documentaries like Asuka's Jounetsu Tairiku. They're both realist.

 

Asuka also under "guidance" of noujo and chii chan back in the days. Like the most youngest members in nogi, she seems clueless but her introvertion +maturity of it harness over time.

 

Well, it depends what you mean by introverted. Asuka apparently feels more comfortable alone in her regular life. When she's not sleeping in the house, she'll go out alone, including to restaurants, which is considered even weirder in Japan than the U.S. She turns a lot of her energies inward: reading, thinking, handling her troubles/responsibilities by herself. Wasn’t there some episode where she thanked Noujou and Chiharu for showing her for the first time in her life how fun it could be to hang out with friends, and then she inexplicably concluded by telling them they could stop inviting her? If that wasn’t introversion, I don’t know what the heck was happening.

Asuka might not seem shy in the sense that once she gets comfortable with a member she can be very unreserved, but that’s true of a lot of introverts, including Nishino with Kazumin (although Nishino is more reserved than Asuka even when she’s comfortable). Asuka has expressed that she’s not sure how to join in or start conversations with people, despite wanting to (although she’s gotten better). Fear of social judgment is what causes a lot of shyness, and Asuka sets high standards for herself, doesn’t like being scrutinized, hesitates when answering questions, etc.

If you look at her philosophy on paper, Asuka is actually dark, or at least darker than the other girls. She enjoys books with bad endings that showcase evil, and she used to think that stories with happy endings or romance were unrealistic and uneducational. When she was in Unders, she said that she enjoys seeing the negative parts of people’s personalities, and searches for them when she first meets people. She expects positive things to fade, including love or her own popularity. In a recent interview, she said that her rise in handshake sales and senbatsu began around the time when she was rejected on the Nogichuu Valentine’s episode, and her conclusion was that everyone enjoys seeing people get hurt.

But then she laughs, and none of it seems to matter. She gets too much joy out of life. She calls Nogizaka members “good people.” Asuka seems like a Dostoevsky quote flipped on its head. “The less I love humanity in general, the more I love man in particular.”

 

In the jungian term i believe introverted =/= simply as shy. But too much playing it safe and confine yourself in your personal "space" rather than socialising probably can just nurtured shyness and then become lack of communication skill.
We can see that happen with ktk and ayane --if we are too compare-- especially ktk, i can sense she is too much on her comfort zone.

Still both were too inward as persons compare to Asuka. I presumed both either INFP and INFJ (dont take the mbti so seriously) which usually tend to be much considerate and can be so sensitive with criticism, where Asuka is very ISTP alike in stereotype, a more carefree but also sharp personality for introvert.
I also think she very alike with Nanamin as well, where Naa-chan seems more suit with ISFP description.

Is it just me or is it rare to see Asuka actually enjoying herself during these trips? She's expressive here and quite playful compared to her usual mood, making her look even more beautiful. She and Minami seems have a pretty good affinity, I hope they get along even in private.
