how embarrassing of me. I thought I caught up to the latest Sasshi posts. Oh well, but i'm glad to see a healthy discussion about it. I'll be rooting for Amane to prove doubters wrong. Personally, I think the only 4th gen to have a chance at ranking is Aki.

 

This discussion has derailed. Original point was removing top ranking members won't help less popular members.
I never said the idol process was any different. It's still Songs > promotion >akb shows/media/concert > find oshimen > spend money on oshimen (h.s, goods etc)
The difference is you want to replace vets with less popular members for promotion of the single and I'm saying that's not going to work because you need popular members in your lineup.

Do you mean guest in Variety shows as in non-akb variety shows? Very few AKB members actually get to be on non-akb variety shows. They won't let you drop some no name AKB member on their show. For music programs like Music station have like 2 minutes of talk then they do a performance, 95% of the girls won't even get a chance to talk. Sasshihara is on variety alot because the directors cast her specifically.

I can't remember ... is this that annual SP show where there is this soapy water sumo in the ending part and man.....that nuru nuru stuff is really slippery ?

 

You got to put a no-namer on Camera first before they become famous. Every group including AKB got on a show when everyone was still unknown. Show will put groups on without vets, example is MM. They kick out all their vets and are adding new members continuously. No show stops MM from appearing with their new singles just because they have no vets.

I never said remove vets as in graduate them, I said remove them from the singles slowly so people will get used to identifying the new faces with AKB. I don't believe Sasshi or any vet should be forced to graduate to make room for next gen.

 

Pro will say that removing big names will make the sousenkyo less interesting.

Con will say that removing big names will allow young members to shine.

Sousenkyo is dull and management make the same mistake to cling to a former glory from the past. We need to let it go. To huge amount of votes. To million of copies Sold.

In long term, when big names will actually leave, the next generation member won't be able to take it from here because not enough popular. Maybe it's already too late.

 

it was too late from the start. I don't think there was ever a group with a successful alternation of generations.
the only thing management can do is "prolonging the agony", by keeping old popular members or adding new groups and promoting new orimen aces from them. and that's what they actually do.
