^ Haruu's career as an idol IMO, settled initially on a few things that haunted her into adulthood:

1. her aggressive, yankii-like personality + athleticism (the Akimoto Sayaka curse);
2. looks, while cute at first, eventually turned into a long-running joke about her weight; and
3. not conforming to what, in her so-called 'peak' years (15-19), was considered 'idol-like'

These three aspects really gave her no choice but to be pigeonholed into a variety kyara on the hinadan... which cemented and legitimized them.

I've always liked Haruu. She can cook her arse off, and knows a lot about culture and traditions in Japanese cuisine, due to her family's business. She's an athlete; most of my familiarity with her is through variety shows where she's participating in some athletic competition or challenge. And in the last two years esp... she's shed the weight from 2014 in an unmistakeable way, and become genuinely palm-biting hot...

Unfortunately, there's a part of Haruu that's always been unsure of herself. We've seen it in two Nemousu tennis challenges, where she chokes at the moment of truth. We've seen it in backstage docs where she cries over her kengai-ship, despite her SSK appeal video being one of her saying nothing but eating noodles for minutes at a time. Her douki know that she plays into the anti trolling by doing more of what they dislike... which is like trying to destroy your enemy ten feet away by tossing him a live grenade. And most unfortunately... her fans have suffered. So it's ironic that at the end of her 48G career... she's the most SSK-worthy she's ever been, given the circumstances.

All that says though, is perhaps enta is where she's happy, just idoling isn't the best fit. But lessons learned in AKB will aid and abet another career where I'm sure she'll be happier. Though I'd hate for her to duck out of sight permanently, into the inn business... whatever makes her happy makes me happy.

& also super agree with your post above.. Underrated.. But Haruu excels in the end.. In her own way..

Good lineup, Miichan was on the verge of tears today during Shimada’s last Team K stage. As Shigesato Itoi once wrote, “No crying until the end”!

 

It seems like Haruu also choose member that close to her (from the list.. but myb also AKS doing.. )

Miichan use to hangout with Haruu.. Usually with Kojimako also.. So i think they are close..
& 1 of Team K strongest performer & AKB "precious gems" will leave.. Ofc not just Miichan, I bet all is sad too..
