Shimada Rena was chosen to become the captain of the 2nd generation. Finally, Team M will be formed.

On January 3rd, it was announced that NMB48 member Shimada Rena (18) was chosen as the captain of the 2nd generation.

The surprise announcement was made through a letter from Akimoto Yasushi during “the New Year special stage” held at NMB48 theater. Though Shimada couldn’t hide her astonishment from this sudden nomination, she gladly accepted this new role. She stated to the audience, “Since I want to repay my obligations to NMB48, I will try my best“, and received a warm round of applause.

Back in September of 2011, Shimada suspended her activities after her private sticker pictures leaked, and she just recently returned to the stage on January 1st, 2012.

It was also announced that they will create “Team M” on January 26th.

Interesting that Shimarena will be the captain for Team M! Though I don't know all the girls of NMB yet, I can't wait which girls are gonna be in Team M~

She's not a team captain though, she's a KKS captain. Members of Team M haven't been decided yet.

Happy, really Happy Birthday my Great Captain of the powerful and crazy team M

 

It would appear, from the NMB48 Theatre Managers Google+ account, that Shimarena announced today that she is going to graduate from the group.

 

This girl got barely any push after her "scandal", so I'm surprised it took this long for her to leave :/ I hope she's happy wherever she ends up!

I, Shimada Rena, will graduate from NMB48.

I reached 20 years old last year,
I came to think about the future more than before.
I have many experiences at a really happy place called NMB48,
I learned a lot here, including hard things and frustrating things.

I come to think about graduation,
the staff-san who still held me back and
the existence of the members who I spend my time with everyday,
the cheering words from all the fans in the handshake event,
my heart swung and wavered, but
after I consultated a lot with my family, I made up my mind to graduate from NMB48.
I take the responsibility to become a captain at the time of my return,
without knowing the reason at that time,
I became the captain of the 2nd generation, team M.
There is not a day where I’s stop worrying as a captain.
I continued to confront the troubles, but
I still have a strong desire that “I want to make team M to be a good team”

After this tour begin, once again
I could convince you that this team is a very wonderful team.

Even though I was really not like a captain, but everyone trusted me,
until now, I’m really thankful.
At the time of my return, Akimoto sensei
gave me the responsibility as the captain, I’m really thankful.

The truth is, I want to grown more in this tour.
There was a shuffle, but because this team M
has been overcome many obtacles until now,
because it has the really great members,
I think it will continue to shine wherever it go in the future.

All the fans who have been supporting me until now,
later on we won’t be able to see each other in the handshake event and the theater performance, I will be lonely, but
because I won’t give up on my dream and there’s a lot of things that I want to do from now on,
I will be very happy if you can watch over me in the future.

Gambatte, Shimarena

 

Shimarena was Senbatsu for HA! and Bokura no Eureka, always gets chosen for Akagumi and got her very own solo portion during Riichan 24H TV. She's been pushed. Its just that her results (handshake sales) didn't match up to her push (she is, like, 6th best seller out of the whole team while someone like Ripopo has never been dropped from Senbatsu despite selling really badly). Her reasons for quitting are really vague and I hope it doesn't have anything to do with drama backstage. I hope she finds success after her time here.

 

I love shimarena. She strikes me as a quiet, reserved yet dedicated girl who didn't seem like the variety type. She just wanted the best for her team and seemed to really push herself, working really hard and going into uncomfortable situations.

Not every girl has to be fun, bubbly and lively. I will miss Shimarena.

 

Shimarena is fun, bubbly and lively though She's also really popular with fans that like going to events because she's kami-taiou.

Her character is the undependable captain that everyone picks on and she did it great.

They just announced Shimarena's schedule. Last handshake will be the Zenaku this weekend (3/15) and last show will be 4/7.

 

I really feel sad I wont be seeing her anymore in future events both in AKB and NMB. I have tickets for her until September (AKB event).

 

Shimarena performed Anata to Christmas Eve as her double encore song with Ayaba. They even did a weird mini graduation ceremony skit to lighten it up but everyone was a mess, even the dude who started the encore was crying by the middle of his speech. You can really see how loved Shimarena is by everyone. Its a damn shame that she's leaving

I'm gonna miss her. She was a strong presence in M, always had that bright smile and energy, in addition to being an able captain. Loved her in the NMB TV shows as well. Has she mentioned what she wants to do from hereon? Wish her the best.
