JKT48 have outdone AKB with the english version of KFC and their River version, which they really rock, and also live.

JKT48 'get it' with the live performances, they 'get' the dance moves as well as the singing. SNH48 I don't think get it yet, the got lots of talent all round...but they need to sharpen up their dancing teachers, and power to their singing.

JKT really rocked River.... and KFC sing much better than AKB.

I would have to agree. To be fair, part of it is because AKB and JKT are at completely different points in their career timeline. JKT are still in growth, it allows for them to be more daring; they have to try and hit it out of all the ball park each and every single. They've got something to prove still, and every entry is a way of pushing past people's preconceived ideas of them.

When they did "River", the members brought up (in the behind-the-scenes) feelings of nervousness about whether they could pull it off, and about people seeing what they were capable of doing. It's exciting.

Another reason why "KFC" for JKT is so good too... I think of it as the definitive everyone song, the tune is easy-listening, with throw back to an older style but done in a modern twist. Everyone can learn the dance moves, the formation is simple. It belongs to everyone in the way most songs don't... and JKT kind of make it feel that way.

If AKB was leading the parade, JKT would be intermixed with everyone following behind, and that's not a bad thing.

And it's performed differently, the spin especially... even when you see Haruka do it, she doesn't do it the way the other members (mostly) do it, maybe it's just the sensibilities between Japan and Indonesia... but probably, just the age and personalities of the members.

I also like the amount of interaction between members doing JKT's ver., when they cross the stage together, you can see things like Lidya and Tata laughing together because they have a near run-in, or when Shanju shimmy-shake chases Dhike back into position. It's such a "fresh", young image.
When you see AKB performing it, they're at times too perfect and it seems to lose a little of the "everyone join in!" idea.
