    The Best Years of AKB48

We just celebrated AKB48's 13th Anniversary on Saturday December 8. In those 13 years, AKB48 has accomplish ALOT and are known as the one of the biggest Idol groups (and girl groups ever). This will be a special list as I want you to vote on all 13 of the years listed (The Points will go from +13 to +1).

    Voting begins now
    Voting Ends on December 16th

    1. The best year for me is 2011 for sure. So much shit went down. That election was so intense. The songs were lit. French Kiss released a fucking banger ("IF"). Like AKB was poppin and never got a moment to rest.
    2. 2012. Again more shit went down. Tokyo-fucking-dome. Probably AKB's best concert (Atsuko's graduation).
    3. 2013. Sister groups were lit as fuck. SKE was a monster. NMB was rising. HKT was new but super cute. SNH was becoming...weird, but trying to upgrade. JKT was also there. I think 2013 was just the year of sister groups slaying. ALSO, fucking Sasshi snatching the crown lolol
    4. 2009. I wasn't a fan this year, but I just heard of them and RIVER was known for awhile I'd say. I remember Sayumi (morning musume) talking about AKB slightly too. It was a cool introduction to AKB and their entire system which was small back then.
    5. 2014. Great singles. Mayu's first win. just a solid year I'd say minus Yuko's graduation concert issue, but I was never a yuko fan so I personally didn't care lol. Also, Lemon being transferred to NMB was great.
    6. 2010. Heavy Rotation. Janken Single. BEGINNER. AKB's real rise to popularity within Japan. 2010 was like the year AKB became "mainstream" and was on everyone's radar. I'm sure some fans might consider it a hard time too cause AKB had to live up to their popularity but they're still very strong to this day and that's very hard to maintain.
    7. 2016. Not a lot happened I feel, but it was like a solid stable year for AKB.
    8. 2017. Now in the more recent years everything's kind of just stable and u know what to expect more or less.
    9. 2018. I liked this year. But nothing to write home about. Sure Jurina won, but like we all expected her to win. The singles were good. Jurina's health break was rather unfortunate tho, but she seems much better so that's really good. IDK like I said 2016-present AKB and their sister groups have been stable. Oh yea Sayaka and Lemon left this year which hurt me (Lemon more since she was my oshimen), but idols move on and that's ok.
    10. 2015. It's not like it was a bad year by any means, but it was like a weird transition year. Takamina also graduated and had THE longest graduation ever lol. That first week million seller thing was also broken. It felt like AKB was a little on the decline (not sales wise, just like EMotiONaLLy). I'm glad management is picking up the pace with stuff to do with the 48-groups, but damn what a weird year lol. But hey we did get Halloween Night and that's a fucking jam. Also JKT's Dangdut version is the best thing JKT has released ever lol.

I wasn't a fan or even know about AKB till 2009-2011 so these super early years I have no strong opinion on, but they existed and I've gone back long time ago to see videos and watch stages and just see the first version of AKB and there was a lot of charm, but it was messy. Unlike mega groups like Morning Musume, AKB started out rough I'd say. Their concept was weird and not common among idols. I would say the theater saved AKB's image tho. There was (and still is) something special about the stage and seeing members grow and become better performers. The theater is rather "dead" almost I would say. I mean we still haven't had A7 come out on a CD and that's just crazy. We need new stages. We have so many new fresh faces and AKB's concept worked really well when watching members on the stage. But doing the same old stages over and over again has just hurt them. IDK about any of you but I don't watch stages unless their special and even then I just skip the songs I don't like lolol. I've heard them too many damn times lol

    11. 2008.
    12. 2007.
    13. 2006.
    14. 2005.

Since I was only really active following this fandom in 2011-2012, I agree with above posts. For me it’s:

    1. 2011: Yukirin went up from 8th to 3rd in SSK. French Kiss year.
    2. 2012: Tokyo Dome Concert, my fave members in Top 4 (Yuko, Mayu, Yuki, Sasshi).
    3. 2014: Mayu win SSK.
    4. 2013
    5. 2015
    6. 2009
    7. 2010
    8. 2018
    9. 2016
    10. 2017

I don’t really care about the order of the rest. But the best year for me is still 2011-2012.

I'm fan of AKB48 last March but here's my ranking

    1. 2009 - Where the AKB Golden Era was started ( in my opinion) I dont know if i right, and that year where the SSK was started and that year was start when RIVER is the number 1 in Oricon Charts
    2. 2011 - because of Flying Get8
    3. 2010 - Heavy Rotation of course and Yuko won the SSK that year so I'm happy
    4. 2013
    5. 2008
    6. 2007
    7. 2012
    8. 2014
    9. 2015
    10. 2006

2017 was the worst year for me because of the Kami7 was graduate

    My completely biased list...

    01. 2009 -- The year a "certain girl" came into my life. Also, the debut of SDN48 and the greatest stage ever!
    02. 2008 -- The year I really started going to the theater, and seeing AKB concerts
    03. 2012 -- #33, and of course, Mujineki
    04. 2007 -- I was first introduced to AKB around December 2006, so 2007 was the first year I really started following them.
    05. 2010 -- Majisuka Gakuen, around the time I was most immersed in being an AKB fan. Also, Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki
    06. 2017 -- The introduction of the 16th Gen (and the resumption of me winning theater shows) refueled my interest in AKB.
    07. 2011 -- Similar to 2010, the time I was most immersed in the fandom
    08. 2006 -- Technically the first time I heard the group and decided to follow them, so it was as a result of what they were doing in their first full year.
    09. 2013 -- The last year I was consistently winning theater shows (before 2014 when everything seemed to change)
    10. 2018 -- Ranchan!

2014-2016 was around the time I got totally bored with the group for a few reasons. Not to mention there were various things going on with AKB that I really wasn't happy about. But if I had to rank them...

    11. 2016 -- It was the year I started seeing my current 48-group oshi member, Yukachan.
    12. 2014 -- I think a lot of people think of this as the worst year because of what happened, but...
    13. 2015 -- To me this was the most ridiculous year of all. I'll say no more.

My list is purely based on the music released in that year.

    1. 2008- All the greatest stages: B3, A5 and my favourite stage, K4. The AKB48 songs with the heaviest rotation in my library are mostly from these stages and they are some really great songs in terms of melodies, lyrics, and vocals. Also, Oogoe Diamond was released as a single.
    2. 2009- The year that AKB got big. It's because the releases were idol anthems! RIVER is the song that made me a fan. Lots of iconic B-sides too.
    3. 2010- Hebirote, Beginner, Ponytail, K6, A6, B5
    4. 2011- This year is just the peak of their superstar era and the releases reflect this.
    5. 2015- There was just an incredible amount of content in terms of both quality and quantity. SO many great B-sides, decent A-sides. Koko ga Rhodos is my favourite album.
    6. 2007- Love the singles from this year. Abundance of great stage songs released that year too, I love the Himawarigumi stages.
    7. 2006- A2 and K2 plus Sakura no Hanabiratachi, Skirt Hirari and Aitakatta released as singles.
    8. 2012
    9. 2014
    10. 2013

Don't really have much to say about the years in the bottom of my ranking since AKB has been around for 13 years so technically the years lower down are some of my least favourite years in terms of releases, lol. I've kind of stopped listening to anything from the middle of 2016 to now. (I'm mostly here for the IZ*ONE and foreign group news, ok?)

    1. 2011 - This is the year I started heavily following the group. I still have my senbatsu merch and some of my oshi merch :D I think very few years in AKB48's history could compare to this year.
    2. 2010 - Some great songs and weird videos.
    3. 2018 - Produce 48, the massive influx of overseas sister groups (SGO/MNL/Team TP/Team SH), world senbatsu with two BNK48 members...
    4. 2008 - The beginning of the greatest variety show.
    5. 2006 - the group was new, they worked harder for less than any current member.
    6. 2012
    7. 2013
    8. 2009
    9. 2007
