The 2013 Stage48 Member Ranking​

It's time for our annual forum-wide member ranking once again, so let's kick it off! 2013 was another big year for the AKB48 Group. AKB48 had their own Five Dome Tour but we're not any closer to getting a permanent center like Acchan and Yuko has announced her graduation, SKE48 started their first solo tour, NMB48 appeared on Kouhaku and HKT48 released their first two singles and is quickly rising in everyone's hearts.

For those new to this annual tradition we've been doing for several years now (this will be the 7th time!), this overall ranking works by consolidating the personal member rankings of everyone that decides to participate. You will need to rank your members, from favorite to least favorite or at the minimum, your top 20 because that's all the members I will be counting. Only take events from 2013 and before into account, by the way. Anything that happened in 2014 so far should not be affecting your ranking.

This is a point system with your oshimen getting 15 points, your ni-oshi 10 points, and so on. I will then add up all the points each member got from ALL people who voted on the forum and ranking them in order, all the several hundreds of them.

You can also give negative points, up to 5 members. These negative points are completely optional and you can submit any number from 0 to 5, with the member you dislike the most getting -5 points. If you only give negative points to one member, that will be -5 points, if you have two members you dislike they will be -5 and -4 and so on. These are to be used if you really have personal reasons for disliking a member, not only because they're at the bottom of your ranking.

For examples, please see last year's thread and results. Please represent your oshimen and other favorites and vote!

There are online rankers like http://www.akb48-info.jp/akbsort_e/ that you can use if you can't figure out the top 20, but that only sorts by group so you'll have to decide how to mix it up into an overall ranking yourself.

Results will be revealed over a period of days just like last year to make it more exciting. Also, they will be revealed when they're good and ready, so don't badger other staff members or me about it like last year because I'm already trying my fastest to get them out. It's not the easiest thing to enter votes manually and I sat in front of the computer for hours each day last year doing it. I have a lot of fun doing these forum-wide events and that's why I volunteer to do it and I hope you have fun with it too, but realize there are things I need to do in real life besides counting votes every waking moment

Yay, it's here! Thanks ithebigc and dreamingpebbles! I thought you decided last year to discontinue the negative points though? I know it's optional, but I have a feeling most will use it anyway, so they'll probably have as much of an impact on the results as they did last year.

I'd hope people wouldn't use negative points as a tactical tool but rather just an honest assessment of whichever member they have a problem with. I gave negative points last year for girls who were stuck in one schtick, had a generally bad attitude most of the time or flouted the rules and got into scandals and I'm totally okay with other people giving negative points for stuff like that, too. But if it's just something like "X girl is really popular and I want my oshi to have a better chance of winning, so I better vote X girl down!" that's just really dirty voting imo

The reason for keeping negative votes in there is because there are girls that people can dislike for legitimate reasons, and I do hope that the majority of people will use them responsibly as Silenka said. Or at least, I have enough faith in the community that they will do so. I myself have used negative votes in the past. Also, not as many people as you think actually use them; only about 1/3 of the people that voted last year used negative votes. [aup]

Finally, this year, we have more girls than ever eligible for voting, with a whopping 447 members that were part of the AKB48 Group + Nogizaka46 in 2013. I don't think even half as many people will participate by actually voting (please do! The more the merrier) Compare that with approx. 380-ish last year, and we'll need all the more ways to differentiate between members. We already had so many members sharing the same rank last year [worried] Depending on how the results look this year, I might have to revamp our long established system of how points are distributed and add like a +20 in there or something for the 2014 rankings.

I completely understand the reason for having negative votes, and I did use them last year, I just could have sworn you and HRP decided they weren't really being used properly and so wouldn't be an option in the future. But in any case, it's always better to have more options.

I'm abstaining from the negatives this year though, I'm not sure I really have a 'good' reason for the few members I sort of dislike. There's one AKB member who wasn't a blip on my radar last year, yet this year I suddenly found completely grating, and yet I'm not entirely sure why, so I'd feel kind of silly throwing a neg her way.

It will be really interesting to see Paruru's results this year, she got so many negative votes last year but now that the anti movement has become kind of passé, I'm sure her ranking will jump.

I will push young members. I'm not really interested in the older ones anyways.
Also, some girls have this tendency not to post anything on g+, this will be reflected in my votes definitely.

That's the advantage of putting your interest in the new generation of AKB48.

I down-voted girls last year, but when the results were revealed and people were discussing why so-and-so had down-votes, I started to regret my decision. Its not good to down-vote someone for a petty reason, which is what I had done. Plus, its a bit saddening when you see a girl you love being down-voted so much by others.
That's why I'm not gonna use them this year! ^___^

Only 20 will be counted? F* me. I am in a pickle. My top five won't be a problem. But the waters get extremely muddy real fast after that. I got my work cut out for me to pick who I am gonna vote for.

I thought i wasn't gonna use more than 3 of the down-votes this year but after going through the list members i did find members that i wasn't particularly too happy with this year, found myself not having enough down votes to use and one of the names i originally planned to write down even got pushed out entirely. So you never know.

I surely hope that I can vote my top 20...since I got a list of my top 100.

I also will be abstaining from down voting this year as while I did find a reason or two to down vote girls last year, I find those reasons to no longer exist and in the case of one girl I was pretty much trolling. And there's genuinely no member now that I feel has stuck out to me in a bad way so I would just be taking the piss out of my bottom rankings for no legitimate reason if I used them.

Besides, the hard part is choosing girls beyond my Top 5. My rankings always get murky after that point because there's plenty of members I like for one reason or another so it's hard to choose who I slightly like more when the reasons are so different.

Hardest part for me was putting the girls in an order, since my actual ranking is decidedly non-linear, so I'm glad that multiple ranks had the same point value.

The only member I can say I dislike for more than petty reasons already left last year, so no negative votes from me.

Yes! Last year I think I missed out by voting because I was missing four posts or something
Negatives are the easiest, since theres so few you can fill and in my opinion, very few girls have anything that make them stick out in a bad way. I'll be using a few, but responsibly.
