Yeah, the not full AKB thing is definitely out of her hand, I agree. Management has to go do their thing in such a roundabout way. And I'm not being sarcastic. I kinda agree though that I wouldn't mind as much if Sayanee or Jurina said such speed? But that's just because they are my favs. You see, I did have Sakura on my casual likes list, but she fell after saying that speech. Let's assume that I give Jurina or Sayanee 9 like points and Sakura 6, if the damage would be -2, Sayanee or Jurina would only get 7 like points for me, while Sakura 4. And why am I saying this? I don't know. I just want to avoid leading the argument to, "I'm being super reasonable while you totally aren't" from my side because I don't trust I can express my thoughts well. Spoiler: Gibberish babble But strange though... I would the damage would probably -3 if Haruppi said it. But Hiwatan would go through the roof. But if other sister group members said it in the same fashion, let's say, Miru, Riripon, Uha, Rara, Katomina, Meru or others, they would probably also get -2 from me. And I should probably not have said effort. I meant I refuse to try understanding the between the lines of her speech. But really though, the -3 I gave her in this ranking is equivalent to -2 if it was out of 10 in my ranking. I'm not as riled up to go around hating whatever she does. I just dislike her "destroy AKB" SSK speech, and oh her worry about her first-center single going to be a flop because of Takamina's scandal as shown on the 2014 dokkiri skit (that would be -1, if I bother giving her such, but by now, perhaps only -0.35?) as well as her non-athletic antics- oh wait, it's funny, so I don't mind (0). And I do think that Sakura does do a very good job in attracting attention and being an idol, which explains her high rank and success.
And my top is complete! I'm positively shocked that Mayu and Naachan snatched the first place!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Most of my favorites got very good positions this year; it's shocking the the difference of votes for Tomu and Naachan/Mayu though. Let's see how are the results next year!! 01. 35. OMG... Theres NO MALICE here!! Geez- the girl is in the Heart of AKB right now (and then) right??... Clearly the AKB48 members didn't take this speech the way Some "Western" NON-Japanese people did. Proof- this Speech was like an "Add-On" to the Sentiments Haruppi expressed a year earlier...remember? when Haruppi said "I'm coming to get you 1st Gens! I'm coming to Smash you (PARAPHRASING!- Something to that effect)- Why did she even say it?? What Inspired her?? It's 1st Gen Mariko Shinoda who said (Paraphrasing!) "You Next Gens need to be Hungry! You Need to want & Come and get us! We need your spirit & Drive!"... To which - to which Haruppi replied 'Tearfully' I might add "I'm coming to Get You Mariko!" (Paraphrase) - remember that?? It was even quoted in various news stories. Sakura's speech is just a variation & continued vow of determination to Move AKB48 Forward - from the Past to the Future! She wants to Inspire her fellow "Next Gens" in a "Hey, If Haruppi & I can get "Top 20"- YOU can too! - she's showing she has a Fire in her Gut and since she's the "Figure head" (by Media Proxy) of the New Girls ("next gens") she's talking about "Transformation" & out w/ the Old and in w/ the NEW...I'm going help AKB shed it's "old Skin" & become "Fresh & new"...like 'Spring' itself after a Winter slumber. Other thoughts... Spoiler Why is it OK for Haruppi to say "I'm coming to Get you!" & not "I want to destroy the old AKB"? She said "AKB" - not "HKT is better!"- she knows w/out AKB, there never would be an HKT. Sasshihara would yanked her off that stage herself like an Angry Mom if she disrespected AKB on national TV. If you were ever worried about "Respect"- I think Sakura cares more than you realize. She has A LOT to represent. She needs to appear "Pumped & Ready" for the Future.
5. (1) [79|25] Shimazaki Haruka{+578,-111}, 467 01. Shimazaki Haruka (+15) - Paruru received more voting points than anyone else, both positive and negative (and she still didn't hit her all time high negatives votes). That's a win for me both ways. People are still paying attention to her. Strangely out of everyone in my ranking, I feel the need to say the least about her because it's clear that she's on everyone's minds already. Why anyone downvoted her doesn't matter to me (tho I'm sure a few chuckleheads will have to chime in about why they think she deserved it). The positive votes speak more volumes than anything anyone else can say. 5th is not a bad ranking, and 3rd most voters too. 10. (16) [46|6] Kodama Haruka{+312,-18}, 294 02. Kodama Haruka (+10) - Top 10! Oh, please, wouldn't it be great if this were real! When I think about Haruppi, one of the things I love the most about her is the earnest sincerity in how she presents herself. I haven't seen a bad bone in her whole body. She's genuinely sweet, and she makes me smile just from the sound of her voice. She's come a long way and it's been a privilege to watch her mature and develop her skills. Lately there's been a lot of complaint that now that Jurina and Sayanee are out of Team K, she's going to get the attention instead, but I think Haruppi is a great example of how a kennin should work. When she was first put in Team A, she was much younger, and she started forming bonds with people like Yuihan and Kitarie, profiting from their leadership skills. When she was moved to Team K, she already seemed to have developed greater confidence, and once in Team K, her performance skills actually rose noticeably. The additional experience she got in AKB has visibly helped her and I think she is a better center in HKT because of it. Jurina and Sayanee...well, it can't be their fault that they've already reached a point where they don't really gain much in personal development from kennin positions. But Haruppi's kennin has payed off in spades. Where she previously lacked confidence, she is much stronger, and when I see her interact with her juniors now, she seems much more at ease and able to communicate with them effectively. 8. (7) [73|2] Watanabe Miyuki{+364,-5}, 359 09. Watanabe Miyuki (+4) - I will miss Milky incredibly. I find her performance level to be higher than anyone else in NMB, both in skill and in presentation. Her dancing is so underrated, it's a pity, and she always knows exactly when to look at the camera and send a brilliant smile to blow you away. NMB has treated her like absolute garbage in the last year, so I'm not surprised she's graduating. She deserves way more than what she has been given lately. I think she will be happier now, and I'm glad for her. Though I had so wanted to see her in Team B again (another example of a good kennin, Milky really brought something unique to that team), nothing will bring back Umeda Team B. 1.(12)[90|2] Okada Nana {+543,-6}, 537 05. Okada Nana (+7) - NANAAAAAAA. When I saw she made the top 10, I honestly thought right away it had to be at least top 3. It was easy to see the winds of change around here. People are talking about her often and in good ways. It was a real wrench for me putting her at my #5 ranking - since Okappa, Komiharu, and Nana technically all occupy my #3 spot, determining what order to place them was the hardest part of putting together my ranking. If I had put her even one spot higher, she would have been the undisputed champion... ahhh... I am sorry, Nana. But even so! First place is still FIRST PLACE. I've been following Naachan since, hmmm, a little before the three musketeers/TTMC got their big push. It was really great when she started getting so much attention. I highly recommend her performance in Kuroi Tenshi from the Group KKS concert in 2013. It was years ago and she was so. good. even then. How frustrating it must have been, the road between then and now, when she's in her first top 16/media senbatsu, to be told over and over again "it's not your time yet" when she was overly ready for big leagues. And then to be surpassed by juniors who (in the kindest way possible) don't even come close to her skill and popularity... If this isn't Naachan's year, then I will have absolutely zero qualms about becoming a full time NGT fan with AKB on the side, keeping up with only my favorites. It's time. It's past time.
CONGRATS TO MAYU AND NAACHAN!! I wasn't expecting Mayu to win or Naachan to rank so high Bolded are the girls from my top 10 that ranked in the top 20 01. Watanabe Mayu (+15) (1) 02. So happy for Naachan! Naachan is one of the best performers in AKB48 atm. She really shines during Team 4 stages and the special stages. Those eyes... You can see who doesn't understand japanese by the amount of upset they get when talking about sakura's speech. But of course we have to take everything literally in probably the most non-literal and roundabout language on the planet. /s At least in the only ranking that actually matters, japanese people will be doing 95% of the voting. And I'm sure they didn't have to check tumblr to figure out what she said.
A tie!! And it was almost a triple tie... In fact, I almost gave one point to Sayaka... Congratulations to the three winners (one point here is a very small difference for me). Hey @rka you inspired me to pick up some stats where you left off. Here are normalized stats for most controversial girls. Kind of like your polarizing girls list (not exactly the same thing). I don't think it's possible to do a rigorous "most polarizing" list because the negative and positive points are based on different scales with no defined way to relate them (i.e. it is impossible to determine if a -3 vote is as "polar" as a +3 vote or a +10 vote). I also include my formula so you can put it into your spreadsheets!! Please absolutely feel free to do so! It's on a scale of 0-1, 0 is not controversial 1 is controversial Controversy by number of voters (>4 voters, >1 neg voter) Controversy=1 - abs(pos voters - neg voters) / total voters (secondary sort by total voters) Spoiler Matsumura Kaori 0.956 Suda Akari 0.842 Sashihara Rino 0.666 Izuta Rina 0.666 Ikoma Rina 0.600 Matsumura Sayuri 0.533 Matsui Jurina 0.524 Miyawaki Sakura 0.506 Shimazaki Haruka 0.480 Soda Sarina 0.400 Oya Shizuka 0.400 Iriyama Anna 0.390 Takajo Aki 0.333 Kitagawa Ryoha 0.320 Owada Nana 0.307 Kizaki Yuria 0.300 Ichikawa Miori 0.300 Kato Rena 0.294 Takahashi Minami 0.281 Hashimoto Nanami 0.266 Kojima Haruna 0.250 Minegishi Minami 0.240 Tomonaga Mio 0.240 Oshima Ryoka 0.235 Kodama Haruka 0.230 Miyazaki Miho 0.230 Akimoto Manatsu 0.222 Yabuki Nako 0.214 Takakura Moeka 0.210 Komiyama Haruka 0.188 Watanabe Mayu 0.184 Nishino Miki 0.173 Maeda Ami 0.173 Kinoshita Momoka 0.173 Kojina Yui 0.160 Yamamoto Sayaka 0.147 Mukaichi Mion 0.147 Hirata Rina 0.142 Kashiwagi Yuki 0.129 Iwata Karen 0.125 Nishino Nanase 0.108 Shiraishi Mai 0.102 Miyazawa Sae 0.102 Yokoyama Yui 0.101 Matsui Rena 0.083 Tano Yuka 0.081 Kojima Mako 0.067 Watanabe Miyuki 0.053 Okada Nana 0.043 Controversy by number of points (>4 voters, >1 neg voter) Controversy=1 - abs(pos points - abs(neg points)) / (pos points + abs(neg points)) (secondary sort by (pos points + abs(neg points))) Spoiler Matsumura Kaori 0.876 Izuta Rina 0.666 Suda Akari 0.653 Ikoma Rina 0.612 Sashihara Rino 0.462 Soda Sarina 0.411 Matsumura Sayuri 0.392 Oya Shizuka 0.363 Miyawaki Sakura 0.348 Shimazaki Haruka 0.322 Matsui Jurina 0.279 Owada Nana 0.279 Akimoto Manatsu 0.273 Hashimoto Nanami 0.264 Kojina Yui 0.260 Kizaki Yuria 0.252 Iriyama Anna 0.223 Ichikawa Miori 0.216 Oshima Ryoka 0.196 Takakura Moeka 0.196 Tomonaga Mio 0.196 Takajo Aki 0.195 Maeda Ami 0.183 Minegishi Minami 0.181 Kitagawa Ryoha 0.150 Yabuki Nako 0.147 Kato Rena 0.143 Miyazaki Miho 0.139 Kinoshita Momoka 0.136 Kojima Haruna 0.125 Takahashi Minami 0.123 Mukaichi Mion 0.109 Kodama Haruka 0.109 Komiyama Haruka 0.101 Hirata Rina 0.100 Iwata Karen 0.094 Kashiwagi Yuki 0.089 Nishino Miki 0.083 Shiraishi Mai 0.081 Nishino Nanase 0.076 Matsui Rena 0.068 Kojima Mako 0.067 Watanabe Mayu 0.062 Yokoyama Yui 0.061 Yamamoto Sayaka 0.059 Tano Yuka 0.055 Miyazawa Sae 0.039 Watanabe Miyuki 0.027 Okada Nana 0.021 Observations: Okada Nana has the LEAST controversy overall (of girls who received at least 2 negative votes, and at least 5 votes)! I was still not sure if I was going to post about it but seeing that someone here think that people who downvoted his oshi are just ignorant people, I'm going to explain why I gave her -5. First is that, for me, she's boring. I don't think she's that cute, her singing is bad (dunno if it was for entertainment or not) and her dancing isn't good. I think that why I didn't care about her at first. Then there was "I'm bad at sport" stuff. I thought it to be funny at first when I watched it on Bingo. But since then, we all saw that it was bs. After the Kibouteki Refrain PV, we all knew that she either improved or she was faking it all along. Now, she still claim she's bad at it (Momm!!, AKB sport festival, AKB concert) and I find it annoying now. What pissed me off the most was the sport festival. Sure, entertainment is good but I find it mean when others were doing there best to win. You let down your team just so you get the spotlight. There was also, during the preliminary results for SSK. Haruppi ranked higher than her. She had such a face while clapping her hands...the guy continued the announcement and we could see that she was comparing Haruppi's result to hers with a not so happy face. People are going to say "they're rivals, that's why" but they're also supposed to be friends (even though I never believed in their friendship) so even if her friend and rival got a better place in the preliminary results she should be happy for her and not look at how much votes separate them. And then, when Haruppi cried because she wasn't in senbatsu, she was crying on her seat, like come on girl. I won't lie, there is also a part about her speech. Her senpai, Paruru, who ranked lower than her asked fans, while crying, to support AKB's 2nd chapter so that they could keep moving forward as a group. And then, next speech "I want to destroy AKB". So yeah, she didn't mean to destroy the group but I think all she thought about was making the news (Wasn't it Sasshi that told her to say something that would make a good title for news? I'm not sure anymore) and didn't even listened to others speech. At least, she's aware that was she said was "extremely conceited and rude". Also, the super push sure doesn't help. And that's how I went from "Sakura? I don't mind/care" to "Not Sakura again". I'm not saying that I know what Sakura was thinking at that time or another, but I just said how I interpreted everything that I saw. Now waiting for people who know everything and who are probably in Sakura's mind to enlighten me and tell me how wrong I am.
01. Oba Mina (+15) 02. Jonishi Kei (+10) 03. Murashige Anna (+9) 04. Imaizumi Yui (+8) 05. Nakamura Ayuka (+7) 06. Okada Nana (+6) - My AKB Oshi, she was the first person I was interested in past 9th Gen and in AKB. Something about that "majime" character really stood out from everyone else, and when she had long hair she had a very elegant-lady poise to her. It also helps that she's shown a gap whenever she squeals at other members 07. Shiraishi Mai (+5) 08. Yamamoto Sayaka (+5) - Looking back, it's really strange for me that at I didn't like her voice when I first looked into NMB!! After seeing her perform and hearing her range, I always look out for her voice, since it's so soothing for me to listen to her sing Always love it when she brings out the guitar, and here's hoping NMB will one day do a GIVE ME FIVE - like song where the senbatsu play their own instruments! 09. Anai Chihiro (+4) 10. Oya Masana (+4) 11. Furuhata Nao (+4) 12. Ikuta Erika (+3) 13. Kitano Hinako (+3) 14. Yokoyama Yui (Team 8) (+3) 15. Yokoyama Yui (+2) - Only started paying more attention to her during her stint with NMB. Short as it may be, it really brought out her comedic side which I loved; I think it's great that she's been given the opportunity to lead AKB48 into a new era, and Look forward to seeing what she will do for the group 16. Furukawa Airi (+2) 17. Mizusawa Ayaka (+2) 18. Shibata Aya (+1) 19. Sakurai Reika (+1) 20. Iwata Karen (+1) Even at the end, I still got a pleasant surprise! I suspect that these 3 would be in the top ten, but I would never have guessed that Sayanee is No. 3 and that NAACHAN'S NO. 1!!!!! Hoping this somehow translates into SSK: not expecting Naachan to be number 1, but hopefully she'll enter senbatsu this year, and Sayanee ranking higher than before! Then have Yuihan rank in Kami-7 and Minarun stay the same of rank higher and my SSK would be complete
what an absolute dogs act the negative votes are... she's won outright with 578... the plastic rats of the fandom strike again..
Yeah a lot of people find her annoying. I don't get it either It could be her eternal loli look, or her lisp, or the over-the-top "struggle" narrative that her fans built up around her. Idk I love her XD
