I think the first episode is the NY episode.

I knew there was a reason why the nemousu director + crew were at NYAF!

some of the appearing members in Vol. 1 and 2 were not in New York so...maybe Vol. 3 and 4

We start the season just like the previous two – some girls are rallied in the theater where they check out a video on the projection screen. It turns out that it’s The Host (really, his name’s Aoki, but I still like calling him “The Host”) once more telling them that they’ll be doing a third season. He plays a video of Yuko during the Seijin no Hi celebration where she points out she wants to climb Mt. Fuji. The Host then plays the video again but this time focusing on what Sayaka says – “Hell, you might as well go for Mt. Everest while you’re at it.” (She uses “Chomoranma” which turns out to be anther name for Mt. Everest.) He teases the girls about climbing Mt. Everest (much to the girls’ horror), but ends up telling them their real mission – day-workers for FLASH magazine.

The girls head over to the building and up to the fourth floor where they meet up with the head of the magazine, Aoki-san. (Hey, talk about irony! ) He tells the girls that they’ll all be working to make up a “fukuro toji” (or “double leaf” – basically one of those magazine inserts) – all by themselves (pictures, articles, and the like). Namely, they’ll focus on three things – a scoop on a celebrity, a gravure section, and a review of a restaurant. Each section will have two pages, with a total of 6 pages for the insert.

The girls then head over to the vice-head of the magazine, Maruyama-san, who then divvies up the girls into three groups. He also tells the girls that they have until 9 that night to finish the job; if they fail…then something bad happens. (I actually can’t read the kanji for that bit, but I’m sure it’s gotta be bad one way or another.) Maruyama-san then introduces the girls to the heads of the sections they’ll be working on (since obviously doing it on their own would just be damn improbable for them to do).

The girls are divvied up as follows:

1.) Gravure: Yuko, Kasai, Kitahara, and Sashihara
2.) Scoop: Sayaka, Sae, and Haruna
3.) Restaurant Review: Itano, Erena, Kashiwagi, and Takajo

*”Restaurant Review” isn’t the exact translation of the word presented; but since I can’t quite read the kanji, I’ll just roll with this term for the remainder of this overview (and into the next since this ends up being a two-episode ordeal).

The Restaurant Review Team heads to the desks with their lead (Aoki-san) to contact some restaurants from a precompiled list. Each girl takes turns contacting a restaurant, though Takajo comes closest to scoring an interview. (Information on the restaurants and voices of the speakers are masked for privacy – though Takajo’s voice ends u getting distorted somehow during her conversation.) Nevertheless, the girls end up heading out with the lead to do a restaurant review that’s been set up already. (I think the idea is that the girls experience the turmoil of hunting down and failing at acquiring an interview slot.)

Inside a van, the head of the Scoop Team (who’s name I can’t read – sorry :-() speaks about the nature of their work before explaining to them how they’ll be hunting down (for a lack of a better term) an idol. The camera guy in the van (who remains hidden) shows the girls the cameras they’ll be using. (I’ll spare you the details on the models and prices. Just take my word for it when I say that they’re pretty badass cameras.)

The Scoop Team girls give the cameras a go outside before discussing more stuff inside. The head tells the girls 1.) to be inconspicuous, 2.) to hide as best as they can, and 3.) to meld into the surroundings (a challenge to do, if you ask me, considering the camera they’re using…and don’t all three points imply the same exact thing? Don’t get caught?). Then one of the other staff members points out how their target’s arrived – Shinoda Mariko. (How convenient it’s another member of AKB48 – and a prominent one at that, too.)

While Mariko’s out and about (waiting about for a photo shoot to start), the girls snipe her with the cameras. After several pictures, the camera reviews the pictures – and gives the girls the okay. The girls then rush in, and shoot Mariko at point blank range – who in turn is like, “Yo, what the hell?!” The girls and staff let Mariko in on what’s going on and even show her some of the pictures they took, before Mariko ends up joining the group.

The Gravure Team meets up in the studio where the head (who’s name I can’t read either – sorry :-() tells them that the girls are pretty much on their own for this one – including taking the pictures. Once the excitement dies down, the girls take a seat and divvy up the roles. Yuko opts to be cameraperson since she likes looking at girls’ figures (like a dirty ol’ man ), while Sashihara takes on the role of the assistant. That leaves Kasai and Kitahara to be the models.

The girls go through the costumes before finalizing on a cheerleader costume for Kitahara and a nurse costume for Kasai. While the girls are changing, Yuko and Sashihara become acquainted with the camera before Sashihara calls down the models. Kitarie comes down first, and both Yuko and Sashihara go through some pictures with her as well as talk about some concepts for Kitarie’s cheerleader photo shoot. Kasai then comes down (fashionably late :roll, and the girls then go to work on her. (No dirty thoughts, people!)

Later on, the gravure expert – Yamazaki-san – comes along to review the girls’ work so far – and pretty much tells them how they haven’t done enough work in the time they’ve spent so far, and how they need to get their act together. (Mind you, he says all that in a rather nonchalant way, though the girls do take it to heart.)

Going back to the Scoop Team (now with Mariko included), the head now tells the girls that they’ll be stepping up their game by going patrol to search for an article (because after all, they have to fill up two pages for their section of the magazine insert). The girls are a bit overwhelmed at their new task, but are pretty much game for it.

Moreover, the Restaurant Review heads over to the restaurant via van. The head does his best to pump the girls up so they can cover two pages in their section of the magazine insert, but the girls are pretty nervous. (Itano in particular points how she’s pretty bad at speaking to people.)

The preview of the next episode features each of the Teams closing out their respective tasks. Also, there’s an advertisement for Nemousu TV Season 2 DVD Box Set coming out on December 11th.

Seriously, this episode’s entertaining – I’m really liking the challenges. Of the three Teams, I give biggest props to Scoop Team since they seem to be taking their job seriously. Gravure Team, as cute as they are having all that fun, seems to fall short in terms of the serious department. (Personally, I don’t care what job it is. People should take the task seriously. Someone important could very well be watching.) And I do feel for Restaurant Review Team – doing an interview can be a scary thing. (I know I’d be nervous.) And for the record, I’d probably like to be on the Scoop Team – not so much for the people but rather the task itself. (Besides, that camera looks so badass.)

Like I said, the episode’s entertaining, and I look forward to the next episode. And of course…yay Yuko! ^_^
