Uchida Mayumi (Ucchi) / 5th Generation

I visited Niigata in March 2017 and I went into the LoveLa2 shopping mall where the NGT48 Theatre is situated but I don't remember seeing IWA there. I've done a little searching and I've discovered that the Twitter account for the Niigata branch still exists:

Firstly it gives the address as being in the Bandai Building which is just across the street from LoveLa2 and I didn't go inside there. Secondly the last tweet is dated 2017/03/11 which says that the restaurant is closing that day for full-scale renewal which was about two weeks before my visit anyway. it doesn't give a reopening date so did it ever reopen? Incidentally I remember seeing the documentary video about the 2016 SSK which was held in Niigata and it showed a pop-up IWA food stall outside the stadium with Ucchi herself serving customers with takeaway food.

IWA is currently running a crowdfunding project for the 7th anniversary:

The target is 700K JPY but the total already stands at 630K. The restaurant plans to use the money for 'maintenance work' following the impact of Covid. People who contribute money can receive IWA t-shirts and drinks glasses as well as food tickets and message photos.

 

I'd like to contribute but I live thousands of kilometers apart from Japan, not sure how can I receive them.

 

A proxy service might be able to do it for you.

It looks like she said that she's leaving her agency and graduating from the entertainment industry.

 

Update: She received 768505 JPY (6979 USD), 384% of original goal (200000 JPY),

She received enough money to keep her restaurant running, since her reputation of being an ex-AKB48 is one of the most important feature of her business, she is unlikely to be out of public sight even if she left her agency.

 

Sponichi is reporting that Ucchi is planning to produce an idol group:
