Watanabe Mayu (Mayuyu) / 3rd Generation

She was, but let's not forget that fans voted her as the centre twice after all and AKB48 became famous when she was in the centre. Personally, my list would look different. I like Mayu as a person and as an idol, but unfortunately, I didn't much like the singles that she centred. 11gatsu no Anklet was my favourite by a lot, but I didn't like Labrador Retriever, Kokoro no Placard or So long! very much. They're not bad songs, but just not very exciting to me. Kibouteki Refrain was good, if that counts.

I'm glad that Mayu captured fans' hearts though. She was undoubtedly very popular and would have been the undeniable center of AKB48 for quite a few years if Sousenkyo had been AKB only.

It was the 5th year anniversary of Mayu’s grad con yesterday. I watched the whole grad con yet again. What an introverted but honest, diligent, and capable girl. I miss Mayu so much too! But I never have any doubts about her ability, I always believe she will find her own way to live happily‼

This is from back in the end of April, a fan of Mayuyu and Yuiyui talked about Mayuyu to Yuiyui during the online talk, and Yuiyui said that they exchange line messages during birthdays! This made me really happy when I read this back then (and I don't think it's ever been shared here) ;w; I love both of them so much and I'm glad they keep in touch! Also, two days ago during the show 'Love It!' where Yuiyui appears, there was a guest who said that he went to Yuiyui's handshake before, and when asked about who is his oshimen, he answered Mayuyu, there's an upload of the video here. it's just little things but I love it when Mayuyu is being mentioned ;w; I miss her so much ._.

Btw back in early October, AKB did their Request Hour for b-sides and the song that ranked #1 is Yobisute Fantasy, MaYuki double center! They performed it with Yukirin and Yuiyui as centers ^^ it's just perfect. Also, during one of the concerts, they performed 11gatsu no Anklet. and Rinrin made a tweet talking about her memories of the song because it was her first senbatsu. in her tweet, she talks about Mayuyu's costume, and she also included a picture of her and Mayuyu from back then ;w;

Yuiyui also talked about 11gatsu no Anklet and about Mayuyu on her Showroom after the concerts. You can see it here with subs!

Speaking of 11gatsu no Anklet, yesterday was the 5th anniversary of this single's release... this is one of my favorite AKB songs and I always love how Mayuyu is in the MV. So beautiful. This song made me feel nostalgic even back then when it was released, the music and the video just have this nostalgic feeling... and now it makes me feel even more like that T_T

 

I wonder if she had been deliberating to retire for a long time or not. I just remember opening twitter and seeing her tweet, feeling like it was out of the blue and so sudden Can't celebs retire from working in the industry but still keep in touch with their fanbase? Although that would be a selfish wish of mine since complete retirement seems to be what she wanted T T

Mayu's grad concert was on Halloween, her grad theater was on boxing day though. I like that anyway

 

It's really been a long enough time to see how things have changed around here...

I know it's been a while since Mayu left but has there been any word on where she's been or how she's been?


Back in the day (2012-2016), AKB was on another level and you knew everything they did...but had to worry about school and people turned to other things.
Coming back, I guess it's cool seeing people still supporting her and the rest of the groups in the era we're in now.

 

Izurina mentioned that she contacted Mayuyu on New Years 2021. No details other than she is doing well. No subtitles but I'm sure some Thai-speaking forum members can confirm the interaction.

Since i miss mayuyu so much i want to put her as my phone wallpaper but i realised i have no good quality pictures of her that are not the early days twin tail pics. I'm looking more for grown up beautiful mayuyu maybe on stage. Do any of you have any recommendations?

i did some rummaging around in my mayu folder but there aren't a lot of what you're probably looking for. the ones that best fit your description don't have the best quality or at least not the best resolution. i picked a few "grown up mayu" ones that might work.

 

@Haxie I've just had a play with the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/web/) and although I couldn't get her official website to display (at least not any photos) I had rather more success with her former official Twitter account. I entered 'https://twitter.com/karaage_mayu' into the search bar and I was able to retrieve snapshots of the account from various different dates including tweets with photos which I found I could download.

The tweets are very slow to display and it might take some time to find photos but hopefully you'll have some success.

 

Thanks for all the tips I also have a slight memory of a perfect picture of mayuyu from what i believe is the second tokyo dome concert where i think she wears this costume but does a pose with one leg up and arms stretched to the side, but i absolutely cannot find it ive been searching for hours now
