Yamamoto Sayaka (Sayaka) / 1st Generation

Who knows, maybe they even requested her . 365days is such a well-known song with lyrics about wishes and hope and all that nice stuff, which would kinda fit with JCI's ethos. Or maybe Showtitle or Team SY members just keep their eyes and ears open for these kind of events. In any case, Sayaka was a good fit cos she has a good image. She's a role model for young people, she's helping promote Osaka/Kansai for the World Expo, and Hitoiki Tsukinagara also fits well too because the conference brings people together (shame it wasn't 'Yume no Koe' though). And now she has some pretty good bragging rights - performing at an event which royalty attended haha!

So, recently I decided to sub Wings performance from Sayaka’s Identity Live Tour 2017. As usual, I did the translation myself, but I have to admit I referred to an already existing translation just to see what choices were made, and then fine-tuned it accordingly. Lately, I've been getting in to BNK. When I saw Cherprang, she instantly reminded me of Sayanee. Short hair, the face, the poise and charm and the intelligence. I immediately thought "she's the bnk sayanee" Now to find out she does act like a big sister to the girls, PLUS sayaka is her oshi.

Hopefully Sayaka can talk to her one day, as Cherprang has been making people's dreams come true, so can Nee do the same for Cher.

 

I like the BNK girls, too. They are cute and spunky and charming, especially when you consider how new they are to the idol world. The Thai language is interesting, as well. AKB songs sound good sung in that language. I hope they become big stars in their country.

Since I posted this on another thread, cross-post here of Sayaka's mail in regards to the recent election results (translation only).

"And then there were the elections.

From NMB, 9 people ranked in.

Honestly, just words alone isn't sufficient to express how I feel about that result.

While there are members who are rejoicing over the results, there are also members who are left with frustration.

While there are members that are smiling happily, there are members that are shedding tears.

It's fine to be satisfied with how things are. That's not something I would ever say, but as I've been watching over the members, I can't really say anything now anyway.

I'm elated for members like Rei-chan and Koko-chan that ranked in for the first time.
But it's also really true that it's heartbreaking seeing members like Miru, Uuka and Saeppi crying.
I can barely stand watching their tears.

But the members, regardless of whether they fall into the former or the latter, what struck out to me most was the way the members held themselves back from crying despite their frustrations and sufferings. More than anything else, they prioritised conveying their thankfulness to the fans. That was really amazing of them.

For at this season, the fans are having an equally hard time too.

Also, without the fans, us members wouldn't be here either.

The members were fully aware of that fact, and prioritised the fans above anything else. I love the members, and I'm so proud of them.

Even the members who were unable to go up onto stage, all of us combined together are NMB.

Even for those members, it'll be great if people would come to love them and the group even more than before. And in turn also want to support us more too.

We need to be moving the hearts of many even to the point of moving on a staggeringly rapid pace.

We have to give it our all to the point we can't stand anymore.

We don't have that leisure to stay down for too long, or even to rest."

Wow. That performance of Uchiage Hanabi was incredible!!!!! Naturally since it's an awesome choice of song but also because the 3 of them just sang so well together. Would be cool if they worked together more.
I didn't think much of the Nakajima Miyuki song, but I'm glad Sayanee got to show off her skills .

EDIT: Actually I think she's only playing the guitar and not singing.

First up 5 ladies formed a makeshift band to perform Miyuki Nakajima's song "Fight!". It was Sayanee (on electric guitar and a bit of singing), Miichan (challenging the double bass), Ai Takahashi (percussion and a bit of singing), Aya Shimazu (singer), and Akiko Matsumoto (keyboard).
