Really glad her album is doing so well. Personally I love it a lot. Especially Ai no Baton, BADDAYS and Hitoiki tsukinagara. Overall I think it's a pretty good solo debut!

So Sayanee's album. Now that I've spent so much time working on the translations, and @ForrestFuller has helpfully included who composed the songs and wrote the lyrics, I wanna talk about it!

First off, it's an overall amazing album. I think it can stand quite proudly next to many professional solo artists' albums. Sayanee's voice is solid and strong throughout.

Surprisingly, my favorite songs on the album were composed by Sayaka herself. While the songs that others composed are still good, they all lack a certain something that Sayaka's compositions have in spades. Considering that she is a pretty green composer compared to some others who wrote for her album, I guess it comes down to a certain style she has that I really like.

As for the lyrics, there are some great ones on there. I didn't really look at who wrote which while I was translating them, and rather tried to guess which ones were Sayanee's and which ones weren't (and tried to guess which one was the token Aki-P lyrics song ). I was incredibly surprised to find out that Melody was not written by Sayanee herself. I love the lyrics to that one, kind of a "letter to oneself" theme, but it sounded so personal I really thought she would have written it =/ Alas. Rainbow Rose is great too though, and along the same personal theme, and she did write that one at least.

The one I thought had Aki-P written all over it was Tsukikage, actually - but it turned out to be Sayanee! Ah well, maybe he rubbed off on her after all these years she spent singing his songs. However, the one he did write - Gimonfu - was one of the more complicated songs with words that were much more complex than in the rest of the songs on the album (and its theme reminded me a bit of Seifuku no Mannequin, he is very fond of train crossings as a setting).

I think my favorite songs are Rainbow Rose, Yuki Koi, Tsukikage, Shiawase no kakera and Melody...but it'll probably be something else a few weeks from now.

 

I love the songs. Its great for roadtrips....

Err the 'Melody' intro is so like... a Kpop song? Or even a western song? I just like heard that intro in another song please.

Does anyone know if Sayaka herself wrote the lyrics for "Bad Days" on the album?

 

I think she didn't. If you look up the song here it says:

somehow I totally forgot to even look there lol. But thank u~ I'm like really impressed by the lyrics like I just love the song so much already, but the lyrics are just so relatable to me atm and I was gonna be like, damn, Sayaka, how u know me so well? lol. I kind of wish she did write it tho lol.
