I knew lurkers rather as those unregistered/unlogged, not just posting very rarely.

I thought there are more moderators.

To me lurkers is someone who only come to the forum to read and only "watch" what's going on in the forum, this include "guest" and registered members that didn't contribute posts to forum threads.

Do all the girls have agents before starting with AKB, as in having experience in modeling or CMs and such? Or do most of them get picked up by agencies after getting into AKB?

Just wondering if there are any "country girl spends all she has to go to the big city to audition for AKB48 and gets her big break" kind of stories.

Very, very few AKB girls have agents or careers before AKB. There have been a few exceptions, like Oshima Yuko was an idol with Girl's Vox well before she entered Team K, and other girls (like Umeda Ayaka and Sato Sumire) auditioned for other groups. Mitsumune Kaoru is the big one here - she has had a modeling career and didn't even audition to get into AKB but instead was put in by her agency (or someone) as an important career move.

Most girls get their first agency (AKS) as they enter AKB, and then are often transferred to bigger, more diverse agencies as time goes on.

I see. Thank you.

So then, for most of the girls AKB is their big break. I think I'll go see what I can find about the auditions.

Why do you think there were many thousands of hopeful applicants when AKB, SKE, NMB etc were formed ? Is it because japan has 127 million people, so you can expect that many applicants, or are there other reasons, such as weak job market, lack of opportunites etc, and hence, the entertainment industry seems most appealing, especially for females ?

I have some questions about the photo cards. Is there a overall series of photos that are collected and traded or is it photo trading in general. Like for example i know they have magazine/calender/theater/visual book ones and are they on the same level as the ones that come with singles/albums and special edition game/dvd stuff. Is it just trading and collecting across the board ?

Also is there a way to obtain new theater photo releases or can they only be purchased onsite at the AKB shops. Do they ever go online besides second hand(like their official online shop).
Vote for a better AKB, vote Watanabe Mayu.

Not sure if I'm in the right place for this, but it's a question so I'll ask here anyhow. I'm looking for scans of AKB from 3 different magazines, but not having any luck. I tried searching the Depot but not very successful there either. I'm looking for these three.

Uh, so you think 8,000 out of 120 million people is a high percentage?

There are quite a lot of people who want to act, dance or sing but don't have the opportunity to do so. After 11 years, American Idol is still one of the top 2 most viewed shows in USA. The other? America's Got Talent. It is not just Japan, but many other countries as well.

and more simply of course that girls in Japan want to be idols and with someone like Aki-P behind it (i.e. proven track record with idol groups) it is going to spark interest.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I was wondering if you could recommend me some AKB / SKE / NBM stage songs. I just got into AKB and even though I've been listening to their singles, I would really like to also watch some of their stage performances but there are so many songs and I'm kinda lost here. So yeah, could you recommend me any good stage performances from AKB or any other sister group? [wink]

I recommend you listen to "Bird" from A3.

There are many catchy songs from team B, so I also recommend you give a try in the B4 and B5 albums [:)]

I guess it's the fastest way to find out what the stagers think about the stages (unfortunately, it's a bit old, but few stages have been released of lately , so... [wink] )

I notice a change in the profile pictures of almost all members in AKB48 in the stage48 wiki web. Their new uniforms - are those a reference of a recent concert that they just performed?
