For those of you who play Dance Dance Revolution / In The Groove / StepMania / OpenITG / DWI / whatever, I've been making some AKB-related stepcharts just for the lulz and because I love listening to songs I love while I play rhythm games. I thought I'd share some with you guys and gals
Difficulty Note: I make these charts for myself and therefore cater to my level of play. If you guys need easier charts, let me know and I'll see what I can whip up.
Updates Note: I may add new charts to currently existing songs or fix timings if they're really off. When this happens, you don't need to redownload the whole song if you already have it; just download the new .sm file which contains the new chart information and overwrite the .sm file in the song's folder and you should be set! If you don't have the song, the main song link has the most recent version of the .sm file so you do not need to update songs downloaded using the main link.
The below are playable on In The Groove 2 machines or at home using OpenITG and StepMania. None of the .ogg files have been patched for Arcade play but read below for more info. Click the first [show] for a preview of the chart via my youtube channel or the second [show] (after Playing: ) to watch me play the song.

If you're wondering about the video titles, I got one of my AKB charts muted a while back since King Records doesn't like people using their songs on YouTube so I just sneak around the auto word catch... ;D
HOME PLAY: I'm using OpenITG Beta 2 which is currently a Windows and Linux only program but is basically a reskin of StepMania. The only reason why I suggest OpenITG is because I use "Roll" arrows in some of my charts and if your StepMania can't handle them, it causes the game to freeze. OpenITG has Roll Arrow support out-of-box since, well, Roll arrows came from ITG. Also, OpenITG Beta 2 fixed video issues with previous OITGs and I don't really follow SM video support but that doesn't really matter if you don't care about the videos in the background... xD BTW, I have a macbook and just use Boot Camp to run OpenITG and it's all good! If you have StepMania running on OS X and if you can get Roll Arrows enabled, then you shouldn't have a problem running the charts with roll arrows. I'm not too sure how to go about that though. If you use an ITG-based theme, it might work.
SYNCING: If you notice the charts are off sync, download this chart and follow the instructions in-game! It's similar to syncing Guitar Hero for HDTVs if you've done that... I suggest auto-syncing based off the above chart because it's perfectly synced with ITG arcade machines meaning if the chart is synced with OpenITG or StepMania on your computer, it'll be synced with the arcade machines if you play it via USB.
ARCADE PLAY: If you have an In The Groove 2 machine in your area and want to play these songs via USB drive, you need to make sure of a few things. a) Your machine is revision 21 (r21) or higher (preferably r21) and b) Custom songs are enabled. To check for this, you can just look at your machine's title screen. Here's an example using the OpenITG software:

Here you can see that Custom Songs are enabled and the OpenITG software shows r1. Some machines have been known to run OpenITG software rendering this portion of the post useless but most machines in my area are still running the original arcade software.
If custom songs are not enabled and you have an r21 machine or greater, you could try talking to one of the arcade techs about changing the option in the service menu. The reason why r21 is preferred over r23 is because r21 allows songs longer than 2 minutes to be played after running the song's .ogg file through a patch that tricks the software into thinking it's less than 2 minutes. R23 machines cut-off any songs over 2:30 regardless of if the .ogg file is patched or not. If you need more information on this, you can head over to wikipedia where they have a deeper explanation and links to where to get everything you need.
