+ | * She has a brother one year younger than her named Ryota.
+ | * She was her school's student council president in elementary school.
+ | * She aspired to be an entertainer since elementary school. She participated in various auditions during middle school, but was not selected for any roles.
+ | * She had a part-time job in high school for two years at the Rainforest Cafe in Chiba, Japan.
+ | ** She has been working since middle school, and one of her motivations to join AKB48 was to earn money for her family. Her family struggled with finances, and Sayaka's earnings helped pay their bills. She was also known to take home the leftover bentos distributed at music programs to share with her family.
+ | ** She is still friends with some of her old Rainforest Cafe coworkers, and has shared photos with them on her Instagram.
+ | * She was in her high school track and field and basketball clubs.
+ | * She has been practicing aikido since 5th grade and has a 2nd dan black belt.
+ | * She is good at English conversation and has passed Eiken Level 2.
+ | * She is said to have bad fashion sense.

+ | * When she auditioned for AKB48 she stated, "I think when I pass, I will pass no matter what clothes I wear". Thus she wore a T-shirt and zip up athletic jacket to her audition.
+ | * After the audition, Akimoto Yasushi named her and Miyazawa Sae the representatives of the AKB48 second generation.
+ | * She is known for her serious and dedicated personality. In the early days of Team K's debut she tried to take on a leadership role, but on some occasions this led to quarrels. For example, she told Kobayashi Kana to focus harder during practice for the Team K 1st Stage debut performance, but Kana argued back that she was already taking it seriously. She also scolded Ono Erena for scribbling on her lyrics sheet, until Ohori Megumi scolded her in turn for speaking harshly to Erena. Noro Kayo later explained that these quarrels ultimately strengthened Team K's bond, and helped Sayaka become a better leader.
+ | * She was officially announced as the captain of Team K at their AKB48 Bunshin no Jutsu Tour / AKB104 Senbatsu Members Sokaku Matsuri concert during the 2009 Team Shuffle.
+ | ** On October 16, 2010, she resigned as Team K's captain due to a scandal. Author and video game developer Oji Hiroi had been seen entering Sayaka's house at night. Though she insisted nothing inappropriate happened, the negative media attention led to her resigning.
+ | ** Four months later on February 27, 2011, she was reappointed.
+ | ** Before being reappointed, she ran in the 2011 Tokyo Marathon as an act of repentance for her scandal. She completed the marathon in 6 hours, 50 minutes, and 6 seconds.
+ | ** She also ran in the 2012 Tokyo Marathon, this time for personal reasons. She challenged herself to finish in less than 6 hours. She completed the marathon in 5 hours, 34 minutes, and 13 seconds.
+ | * She treasures her fan letters and gifts.
+ | * Japanese fans sometimes called her Okaro. Legend said it was because Oshima Mai had read the kanji of Sayaka's name 才加 as katakana, which when spaced out look like オカロ (Okaro).
+ | * In 2009, AKB48 Theater Manager Togasaki Tomonobu described Sayaka as someone who "loves AKB more than anyone else. She can cry for other people".
+ | * She is bad with roller coasters and haunted houses. This was confirmed in an episode of Shukan AKB.
+ | * She has her belly button pierced.
+ | * On an episode of AKBINGO! she demonstrated a high jump of over 120cm. This was the highest jump among the participating members.
+ | * She was appointed as a goodwill ambassador to the Phillippines in June 2014. She expressed that this had been one of her goals since entering the entertainment world.

- She was her school's student council president in elementary school.
- She aspired to be an entertainer since elementary school. She participated in various auditions during middle school, but was not selected for any roles.
- She had a part-time job in high school for two years at the Rainforest Cafe in Chiba, Japan.
- She has been working since middle school, and one of her motivations to join AKB48 was to earn money for her family. Her family struggled with finances, and Sayaka's earnings helped pay their bills. She was also known to take home the leftover bentos distributed at music programs to share with her family.
- She is still friends with some of her old Rainforest Cafe coworkers, and has shared photos with them on her Instagram.
- She was in her high school track and field and basketball clubs.
- She has been practicing aikido since 5th grade and has a 2nd dan black belt.
- She is good at English conversation and has passed Eiken Level 2.

- She is a fan of Michael Jackson and Ozaki Yutaka. Her favorite song by Ozaki is "Forget-me-not".
- When she auditioned for AKB48 she stated, "I think when I pass, I will pass no matter what clothes I wear". Thus she wore a T-shirt and zip up athletic jacket to her audition.
- After the audition, Akimoto Yasushi named her and Miyazawa Sae the representatives of the AKB48 second generation.
- She is known for her serious and dedicated personality.
- She was officially announced as the captain of Team K at their AKB48 Bunshin no Jutsu Tour / AKB104 Senbatsu Members Sokaku Matsuri concert during the 2009 Team Shuffle.
- On October 16, 2010, she resigned as Team K's captain due to a scandal. Author and video game developer Oji Hiroi had been seen entering Sayaka's house at night. Though she insisted nothing inappropriate happened, the negative media attention led to her resigning.
- Four months later on February 27, 2011, she was reappointed.
- Before being reappointed, she ran in the 2011 Tokyo Marathon as an act of repentance for her scandal. She completed the marathon in 6 hours, 50 minutes, and 6 seconds.
- She also ran in the 2012 Tokyo Marathon, this time for personal reasons. She challenged herself to finish in less than 6 hours. She completed the marathon in 5 hours, 34 minutes, and 13 seconds.
- She treasures her fan letters and gifts.
- Japanese fans sometimes called her Okaro. Legend said it was because Oshima Mai had read the kanji of Sayaka's name 才加 as katakana, which when spaced out look like オカロ (Okaro).
