Keyakizaka46 (欅坂46) was a Japanese Idol Group and the first sister group of Nogizaka46. Their debut single, Silent Majority, was released on April 6, 2016.

The group was rebranded as Sakurazaka46 (櫻坂46) on October 14, 2020.

2015

Official unveiling of the 1st Generation

June

  • 27 - Auditions start for what is then known as "Toriizaka46" (鳥居坂46).

August

  • 21 - Final examinations end and 22 people are officially unveiled as the 1st Generation. The group's name is changed from "Toriizaka46" to "Keyakizaka46".

November

  • 11 - Harada Mayu leaves the group without any send-off activities.
  • 14 - Blogs for each member are launched.
  • 14 & 15 - The group's first event, a "Choose your most noticeable member" introduction meet, is held at Tokyo Zepp DriverCity.
  • 30 - Hiragana Keyakizaka46 is unveiled during an episode of Keyakitte, Kakenai?, and along with it Nagahama Neru as its first member.

December

  • 16 - The group appears on "2015 FNS Song Festival THE LIVE", where they perform Seifuku no Mannequin with Nogizaka46 and AKB48, marking their first TV performance.
  • 19 & 20 - The group holds mini handshake events across the Kanto region.

2016

Opening act at LIVE EXPO TOKYO 2016 ALL LIVE NIPPON VOL.4

  • 30 - The group performs Seifuku no Mannequin as the opening act at LIVE EXPO TOKYO 2016 ALL LIVE NIPPON VOL.4, making it their first live performance.

  • 24 & 25 - Keyakizaka46 One Man Live is held as the group's first solo concert.
  • 28 - The group performs at COUNTDOWN JAPAN 16/17. They continue to perform there every year until 2019.
  • 31 - The group performs at the 67th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, marking their 1st appearance on the program.

January

  • 21 - Sugai Yuuka was announced as the captain of Keyakizaka46, and Moriya Akane the Vice-Captain, at the national handshake event held at Makuhari Messe.
