I wonder what does STAR48 has in mind... First, they disband CKG and now they're reborn!? Afraid of the AKB48 China, I presume
SB doesn't recreate CKG. CKG is independent from SNH Group. It is not sister group anymore. All of current CKG members are considered to be under IDOLS Ft. Brandnew CKG is just a last attempt and I doubt it will last long.
What a twist of events! Seriously? They are using the CKG name but want to not be a part of SNH? How confusing.
Independent based on what? CKG48 is ok at it is though, they disbanded just because they had no place to stay, that's all.
The members and staffs used their money to hold the performance. SB didn't help. CKG is like an indie local idol group with no future. They disbanded because they couldn't gain profit. Their old stages are nearly empty. They couldn't fill the theater.
I did research a little and apparently they are still part of SNH48 Group. At least as you can check on their website, they still list SNH48, BEJ48 and GNZ48 as sister groups
Do you check the members page? They are under IDOLS Ft. SB doesn't care about CKG. Btw, SNH website doesn't list CKG as its sister group. That says enough.
The CKG48 is part of the SNH48, but I think they are not considered a group because I'm realizing that the CKG is undergoing some testing to see if it's worth to be formed the group.
^ SHY and CKG were established in Shenyang and Chongqing/Chungking in hopes that the cities and areas around them can have better infrastructure and would prompt more visitors/tourism (and money) to come in. Unfortunately both theaters were experiencing low attendance, leading to disbandment. Geographically speaking, Shenyang is in the northeast, about 700km/430 miles from Beijing, and Chongqing is to the west. Notably the eastern parts of China are very well established and have huge cities. The farther west one goes, there are more mountains. I'm not too fond of the municipality of Chongqing, but it is an administrative municipality to the Chinese government. In other words, it's a successful city and metropolis. It's about 1,835km/1,140 miles from Beijing (another administrative municipality). Due to the theater location and high rent prices, it was hard for CKG to pay the prices when attendance was not like SNH or BEJ/GNZ. That's what I know so far; I don't know if there were other underlying problems with their organizations or if there were problems within the groups/members that could have contributed, too. Also important to note that CKG "reborn" isn't an official sister group. Not yet, at least, since the members are coming from Idols FT (where most of the members of SHY and CKG went to after the groups disbandments). It's more like a trial run to see if they can be successful.
From what I read, SHY and CKG were proposed from local investors. Shopping mall operators in Shenyang and Chongqing asked SB to run theaters in their malls in hope to increase numbers of shoppers. The cost of theaters and dorms were fully supported by the investors. The groups lost their free theaters and dorms as the shopping mall businesses did not go well leading to the disbandment.
