Two stories in Entame Next

In the first part of her interview, she talked about the highlights and commitments of her photobook.

──In your 1st photo book, you were shooting with the theme of “the last delusion in your 20s”, but this time it is “the first delusion in your 30s”. The title was also named delusion = delusion.
Matsui: The theme was delusions last time, but it feels more like "adult delusions". I tried on costumes with a different taste than last time, and I was able to do a lot of things that can only be done in a fantasy world.

──Did you make any wishes for the filming yourself?
Matsui: Last time, there were many shots with a stylish atmosphere shot at the house studio, but this time I thought it would be nice to have a Japanese feel, so I asked, "I want to wear a yukata and take a picture at a ryokan." It's my favorite because I was able to shoot it just the way I like it.

──What are the differences from the previous work?
Matsui: Last time, there were a lot of smiles, but this time, while there are smiles, there are also expressions that have a slightly mature atmosphere. I used my fantasies as an excuse to try cosplay that I hadn't done since I was in AKB48, so I think the atmosphere has changed.

──What are you doing these days?
Matsui: I often watch movies and foreign dramas. I really like 'Stranger Things: The Unknown World' on Netflix, and recently watched Season 4 at once.

──Was there a moment when something changed?
Matsui: It's not like I had a big reason, but when I was in the group, I was often compared to others, so I couldn't help being negative. Even if I received a big job, I felt "I'm sorry", and there was a time when I misunderstood humility and negativity.

But I still feel sorry for those who support me. It was around the time I graduated from AKB48 that I realized that I was denying those who loved me. I think it was too late, but from then on, my horizons became much broader, and I thought, "I can live a more enjoyable life depending on myself." If you live brightly, thinking, "This is the part of me that I love," the people around me will also become brighter.

──Was it difficult to be in a group?
Matsui: Of course, there weren't any unpleasant things among the members, but there were times when I would lose my confidence by being compared. When I was in junior high school before entering the entertainment world, I used to think that I was the cutest in school. But when I entered AKB48, the reality was completely different. There are a lot of cute girls, and I thought I was the best at the piano, but there were a lot of people who were good at music too, so I became negative, saying, "I can't do anything at all."

But on the other hand, AKB48 also made me think, "It's okay not to be perfect." Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. That's why I was able to let a lot of people know about my favorite things, like the piano and the radio.

I remember her being there for junior members at times like the 2013 shuffle announcement, she was comforting a really upset Team 4 member (Takashima Yurina)

She did not have to do that, most members stayed with her team, but she stepped up as Team 4 at the time only had one senior and she had her hands full, she seemed to be a truly kind senpay and I like her for that
