agree with @eyeless .. actually, I dont want an election for this year,. somehow it's just a waste.. to me.
some of AKB48's members who ranked last year, didn't rank this year....

I had mentioned before in the Election thread that I mainly saw the election as a huge popularity contest mainly designed to make a ton of money. However, after reading all the posts in the results thread and reading Acchan's speech, one thing really stands out in my mind.

Disappointment.

Not that Acchan is #1, or Yukirin is #3, or Tomochin is #8.

It's the amount of hate here, and the fact that Acchan said, "I think there are people who hate me, but please, don't hate AKB." That made me really, really sad.... If they encounter in RL the same hate we see here on these forums, I feel for these girls.

I would like to extend my congratulations to Maeda Atsuko for taking the number 1 spot in this year's elections. Watching her tension mount up and hearing her speech was really moving. She is a true fighter and I know she will do her best this year as the face of AKB48. Her gratitude toward her fans and her soothing words to Yuuko touched my heart and I really thought it was nice of her to show Yuuko support, especially during a very emotional and exciting time for her. As for the part in her speech when she talked about the anit fans: I'm not surprised that she knows about the existence of such fans, I'm sure it's common knowledge and the girls have run such fans before, but I thought it took a lot of courage to call them out and address them in front of a live broadcast and millions of people. She really deserves a lot of respect for that and it must have been hard for her to even acknowledge such fans even existed, esp. when she is such a large part of AKB48's public image. I'm really proud of Acchan for all that she has done since I have been following AKB48 and I'm very happy to lend her my support and well wishes. I know she will do her best this year and work hard, and as her fans we should all continue to show her our support and love~

Yay! All hail, Acchan!

Let me start by saying, "I love AKB48."

I don't really like this whole election thing cause of all the emotions it stirs up among members and fans. The girls are awesome and they work really hard to get where they are at. I have nothing but love for them.

My heart goes out to Yuko, Taka, Tomo, and Mariko especially. I know how generous and caring they are first hand.

They treated my son like a close friend. Heck, Yuko even chatted with his mother! While waiting on the dock for the other girls, Yuko and Taka entertained the crowd and staff with their antics. Since I haven't seen it in a video, I'll say there was an incident when Yuko chased Taka with a fish that drew hysterical laughter from the crowd. Taka was very sweet taking photos and she dragged my son into the photos. Acchan was very caring by taking time out to talk with a certain fan between takes and striking a few poses for his camera...

I only wish every AKB fan gets a chance to see them as they really are. Cause in the end they all have
feelings and personalities just like us. The only problem is, they can't wear their heart on their shoulder.

I know we AKB fans on a whole are just as generous, judging from my son's run ins with them (us) on Guam. Would you believe a few other fans identified him? lol All I can say is these experiences are epic and they demonstrate how incredible the AKB fanbase truly is.

I am not really a big fan of aachan, (I havent really noticed her that much) But I really truly like that she puts so much effort into akb48. And I liked how she reacted when she heard that Yuko was nr. 2 She seemed sooo happy

BTW have you guys notice how Acchan's speech is about hate while with Yuko about Love? Is that a coincidence or their management told them to say that since their from the same company???? Well, it doesn't really matter since I love them both. I just find that funny!!!!

Not to mention 12 magazine covers in the election month, a solo debut, numerous drama lead roles, 2-page newspaper election poster, dominant screen time in election ballot single, said single is theme of movie she is the main cast [/typical anti-Acchan propaganda]

one thing that I really don't want is bad relationship among members. They are going well each other and laughing together is more than enough..
My oshi is Acchan, but I do like some other girls too.. You support your girl, it means you support AKB48 in whole.. I hope fan will also think like this, appreciated and respected other girls who actually are not their oshis.
