She wasn't exactly given a choice about this.
And NMB48 was certainly considerably more supportive of her.
And really, that is so important.
Man, if only she could be sent to NMB... or NGT... or even Team TII where people are actually supportive of her.
Instead, we see her clinging to those who constantly crap on her.
And then act like its a mystery why she isn't more popular....
The answer to that, in huge part, is how she gets treated by certain members.

The AKB48 fanbase is certainly gullible in this regard.
If the members, hosts and guest are told to conspire to never criticize and constantly praise a member, the member could be the absolute worst and yet a huge portion of the fans will all buy in.
If the order is to constantly treat someone like the most hideous, least charming girl to ever walk the earth, no matter how good she is, the fans will completely ignore and dismiss that member until the end of her career.

Anna is in stuck in the odd position where it seems like she'll randomly get one or the other on any given day.... or, rather, the company has the agenda to constantly treat her like garbage given how hosts and guests have always acted towards her, but she has so completely won over her kouhai that they shower her with constant adoration and at least 3 of them are only in HKT because they wanted a friendship with her.


In some ways it is good that Anna didn't enter the election this year, I wrote it would be better if she didn't... but....
I also seem to have underestimated just how many of those who usually vote for Sashihara who planned to vote for her.

Instead of the mail she wrote about "running away" and "not being confident", I kind of wish she had written a mail saying "I know I would have ranked in this year, but if I did then I wouldn't be by Sakura's side when she wins 1st place" even if that wasn't her plan...
Actually, I can't help but feel the negative tone of way too much of the member mail she sends is just damaging her popularity.
Her constant complaining about having no money, being lonely, crying about negative comments written to her... because there is no clear, direct way to help her in any way, it can only serve to alienate people and make them stop wanting to follow her. I mean, if she ever did Showroom then maybe it would compel people to throw more presents (regardless of whether that translates to her getting any money), but it seems like the things she needs to do that are kept in the family home in Yamaguchi so it isn't a matter of her not being willing, but rather not being able.

Aside from like... half of HKT48 graduating, that's sadly just not going to happen unless she gets a pity spot in the back row or so far off to the wing that she'll be entirely cut out of the shot in most cases.
Despite the fact that, ironically, some of the girls who do make it into the senbatsu like Tomiyoshi and Ueki are actually less popular than her.

She really is better off doing her Murashige Senbatsu... though, given what she said tonight?... She is far too self-loathing and incapable of realizing when she actually did something that got over to understand that she should do that thing more.

The likelihood is, given her predilection towards self-sabotage, that despite the fact that girls across the company, girls way more popular than her, actually do want so much to be friends with her and be in her senbatsu, she'll totally throw this whole opportunity to do something meanful and increase her audience, increase HKT48's popularity and sales and connect with girls she barely gets to talk to... really, for absolutely nothing, just simply because she has been convinced to hate herself so very much and is afraid to try anything at all and the first one was really just kind of her way of venting her frustration over the least popular girl in HKT48 getting no respect... and so having stumbled upon something that works for her, she'll sabotage herself by not bothering to follow up on it.... aside from any other scandal she ends up putting out there about her love life because she just that determined to constantly sabotage herself.
