A lot in fact. She centered NO WAY MAN on Music Station out of nowhere, she is a finalist in the singing competition, she has doubled her appearances on AKBINGO....I dunno maybe it's just me, but I feel like her exposure has really grown in recent times

Was kinda thinking with that exposure she would rank in this year's sousenkyo but sad to hear that there would be none.

 

And... nothing of that means ranking in the Sousenkyo, as we've seen throughout its decade long history, Team 8 included.

Does this make sense? Not really, right? Some girls need months or years of heavy exposure to get to a point where their face is so popular that people will vote for you just because of that.
What I've seen with Yoko is that last year people were hoping that she could rank, that maybe she was just under 100th in 2017 and that she could finally make it since her followers were increasing, her dancing was finally being acknowledged, even becoming one of the front members of the 10th special stage, and because of her... well, you know what. But she couldn't even rank 120th. This means that despite being so famous in Aomori and many people praising her it just wasn't enough, not even near.

Did she make it clear that this year had to be THE year? That her fans had to do something special or else...?
Did you see any major movement from a committee to do something like Onishi fans did last year?
Did you see her handshake sales improve dramatically?

Could she rank this year? Maybe she could, maybe she couldn't. But I don't see any difference from last year, to be honest. At least nothing that makes me believe that it was almost certain that she could rank. Akarin was much closer to rank last year, but she had SR and you saw that she had fans rich enough to drop hundreds of towers just for her, even if she isn't one of the most popular members. Yoko needs to be more aggressive, otherwise she'll always be 2017 Berin.

 

I totally agree with Aka on this matter.
Yoko's fans are usually too much optimistic and personaly I'm glad that there is no sousenkyo this year, we will avoid a new disillusionment.
Her handshakes sales are too low to hope for something more. It's sad but in Idol's world, skills mean nothing in terms of popularity.
The most important is that she enjoy what she is doing everyday in 48G.
