Miyawaki Sakura (Sakura) / 1st Generation

Part of the challenge of impact with a photobook, is that the shots are usually taken far in advance of the debut... so in that time other projects of Sakura's can debut and give the PB a context... depends on if that context is in or out of line with the intention of the PB publisher -- and fans... I suppose.

If there's enough marketing control over the other projects, they can coordinate towards insuring a certain impact... but she's been getting so much work, and tbh not even quite popular stars there get that sort of focused consideration until a certain level... so it's probably just take the opportunities as they come.

 

Only about 15 minutes to the announcement now. I wonder if it could be about Majisuka Gakuen.

*this is in response to risou's post regarding the mobame translation. I'm using my phone and screwed up the quote function so yeah. Sorry.

Anyway, I agree that it's difficult sometimes to convey the nuance in translations (actually, most times). The issue is compounded when people who aren't completely proficient in either of the languages being translated to > from and vice versa. I suppose it doesn't really matter so much when it's just a forum and people are just after the general "gist" of things, but still.

Also, I read the translation in question, and, it's only minor but this passage:

私は、ファンの皆さんからチャンス頂きっぱなし。

It doesn't just mean "I keep getting chances from fans". It has the unsaid nuance that:
"お返しをしていない" which means:

"I'm yet to give back to you, the fans, for the chance/opportunity you've given me."

As I said, it's only minor, but as it was previously, it didn't really make any sense, but adding the intended nuance (or attempting to) shows that Sakura is determined to improve.

What exactly is this about?

 

its 1 day event where fans can recommend a slogan for the "book-wrap? thing". The sleeve thing that is almost always on a Japanese book.
Sakura will pick one slogan from the list and use it.
Just tells you how to do it. Like where to write, by when, etc.

Love this shot of Sakura...
No artsy poses... no edgy makeup...
Just as she'd be if she and the photographer were classmates on a field trip.
Even the composition of the shot is very modest and 'nichijou', as if it were taken with a point-and-shoot by a real student.
Gives it an intimacy I find quite nice.

There are limited DVD. If you are in Japan and bought the PB you have a chance to win one the DVDs. Not everyone who got a PB will get the DVD.

 

Yeah I'm down with the situation, I'll be buying one off someone for some extortionate price but was just wondering when the companies dishing them out??
