AKB48 Team 8 (Idols who go meet you project x Toyota)

It really depends. Obviously these girls go to different schools, each school has its own rules, its own schedule. And some are just smarter than others. You have periods of time when some of them spend most of their time in Tokyo, even for weeks, but they're usually busy. Sometimes a Nagi performance with Team B came out of nowhere. It's not that common. But AKB4 teams don't have many performances lately, so it's hard to tell how it's going to be with the new teams. And let's not forget that a few eitos have a schedule as bad as a senbatsu member. I wonder if Onishi does have time for theatre performances. I don't really want to see Team 8 having less performances of theirs (they have a lot more than the other teams) so that they can be in AKB4 kouen. Something that people tend to forget is that each girl learn one or two positions in a stage, so you have to take that in consideration too when selecting the 16 members of a performance.

Ever since Atsuko graduated, with every shuffle they try to recreate the Acchan-ace/Takamina-captain pair on Team A. This time they made two: Yuihan-Miion and Berin-Yuiyui.

Team 8 is doing a bit less lately, but still more than the other teams. Summer belonged to them. The 16th gen were doing a lot but not as much in December. You see, we've been having a lot of special stages because the teams don't have enough members to perform regularly.

You do realize the choreo is going to change if it's not 16 people right? And if you want to create 1 choreo for 12, 13, 14, 15 member versions, multiplied by all the songs... Logistically speaking this is beyond what simple dumping of cash can create. You're asking members to memorize 6 interactions/dance positions per song based on attendance.

Also when it comes to choreo changes, it's not a simple "Oh 1 person's missing so maybe space out a little to cover up the gap" kind of thing. It may work for some songs, but not all. Transition paths? Balance of composition? Will it fit the theme of the song? Are there significant meanings behind each "unit" within the song performance? There's the artistic element behind that you can't just ignore.

 

I already read her translated interview regarding her becoming an idol, yup, the one long time ago.

She said there being an idol is her dream, and reading Hiichan's interview, she said Nanamin even before then talks like an idol. So yes she loves being an idol.

But the thing is, she has reached that dream, and I'm a new fan of Team 8 but by reading her thread so as this one, I can tell she isn't faring well, she's not that popular unlike Hiji who saw progress this year in top 100 SSK.

So perhaps having achieved her dream, she feels contented now? She's entering college too soon right?

I saw your post too in her thread where you said she looked sad.

It would suck to see her graduate though. The only thing I am banking on is her future goal of being an actress. She needs to gain a strong following being an idol so that she won't face more hardship once she turns as a full-fledged actress. But then again, that's the problem. Her following isn't getting stronger, or I could be wrong.

I'm amazed though you guys here know a lot. Like Aka mentioning Nagi lives in Asakihawa.

@Hiei Harukkusu I'm trying not to be overly harsh on the girls, because we never know what goes on in their personal lives. She's just been acting "strange" for a long time (cutting her hair, almost no campaign for SSK, then suddenly doing Showroom every day sometimes even at 5 AM, starting to wear extensions to return to her previous hair length, stopping her everyday SR before Eito no Hi, doing in total 3 streams in the next 3 months, sometimes disappearing for days from all SNS...) Also Kasumin graduating must have affected her as well.
Well maybe she uses private mail to communicate all the clues I'm missing in the story (it's possible because she's heavy on it and has these special days once a month when she tries to send 100+ mails). idk if there is something that doesn't allow her to do as much as she would like, maybe it's just school. She didn't write anything about the kennin, though from 755 comments it seems she did in private mail. Also she did write few days ago for people to buy the 2-shot events which are April-June. I doubt she'd announce graduation so far ahead so that's a bit reassuring. The kennin and possibly bigger time freedom (by losing all those jobs in Fukushima) could be a new impulse for her so let's see.

I was merely stating her objective qualities in terms of her adaptability to the group and her being accepted by her peers.
But her catchphrase is some next level stuff.

I'm surprised though Nagi is okay with that. But that's one way of telling her fans to come visit her city too. Go there for Nagi, or something like that.

@nvmea, you noticed a lot of things sir. I think Nanamin might not be that happy so she is acting like that. She cut her hair too; well it made her round face more pronounced, so I was not surprised she'd use hair extension. Either way she's pretty though. She's prettier now that she's turning 18 compared to when she was younger. In contrast I'd say Hiichan and Hiji were really cute during their 14-15 years old days.

I checked Nanamin's 755 early this morning, and it was quite bland too. There's not that much posts. Nanamin, apparenlty is competitive, she wants center spot too, so she had no choice but try for it last training camp, and lose.

She has a cool mother though, moral support can help, perhaps. But like you've said she has activities scheduled for mid-2018, so she's staying still.

A question about the shuffle, how demanding is the work of a team captain? I'm thinking Rin has to prioritize A over 8, so perhaps full transfer to A is a possibility?
Or she could just fail as a captain and focus once more on 8?

 

What is interesting for me, the management deliberately put only 22 members in A, which mostly consists of senbatsu members and far away eitos. Is the management stupid enough to form a team that can hardly perform, even captained by a kennin? How will this team work, I think we just need to be patient and see.
A quick answer to your question is, continue the special stages and don't do Team A stage if not enough can perform. On the other hand we will have one less stage, it's not like Yuiri KKS stage will continue because most of them are no longer KKS.
Though, this is a discussion for the shuffle thread.

Well of course, IMO that will degrade T8 as a feeder team rather than a proper part of AKB with different system and concept. What's the difference with KKS then? And what is the point of becoming an eito? To be popular enough that you will be deemed worthy to properly join AKB4? No wonder they frequently feel like some fans treat them as 2nd class AKB, even compared to KKS. I have said my points considering the economic value of that idea though.
It will be different if the member herself decide that she no longer can function properly as an eito and decide to graduate from the team but still want to be part of team A/K/B/4. I don't know if that is possible or not.

 

Like I mentioned... doing too many adaptations isn't a good thing. There's a limit to how much members can memorize, as well as adapt. Don't forget they may very well end up doing different stages the next day. Nara -> Theatre was bad enough for Ikumi to forget her position already.

I rest my case... in terms of performance logistics, you guys are seriously underestimating the duties of the background staff. If it was that simple, why didn't they do it earlier? If it's going to be cheaper, faster, and more efficient overall, why didn't management change all performances to just 12~15 people? Why is it more efficient to kennin existing potential? Think about that.

The comparison with 13th gen doesn't stand. With the graduation of certain members, that's it. It's impossible to back-fill an old generation. But with theatre performances, it is possible. Japan is also extremely conventional in their thinking, and they won't break such traditions of 16 man units unless it's impossible, like with older gens. As long as an alternative is present, they will always find ways to make it 16.

Transferring members to A,K,B,4 doesn't make sense at all.
1) You lost control over your strong members
2) You need to hold auditions all over again and train new kids
3) The new kids have to fight with the expectations and results left behind by transferred members
4) Brand loyalty to the member. Fans of the member will likely not support the new girls as long as their oshi still remains.
5) With all the above you'll end up with a half-dead member who's never gonna get popular.

 

You'd have to change your house, you'd have to change your school, you'd have to change your daily routines, you'd have to change everything. What difference does it make if it's Tokyo, Fukuoka, Beijing, Mumbai, Kinshasa, Inverness, Ljubljana, Porto Alegre, Tijuana or Edmonton? It could even be the neighbour town: a change is a change. So, if you have to change why Fukuoka instead of Tokyo itself? Why HKT instead of AKB?
