Truth: the song is bad cause every Nogi single is underwhelming since Nanase graduation (Akimoto sensei and management's favourite), they don't care much about Nogizaka quality since she left.

I hope the A-side will be better and less forgettable and bland, no matter who the center is.

 

Fake: I have a meeting with Aki-P today to negotiate about my chance to write and pick the next center of 26th single. He jokes it gonna look like a one-way ticket to Palookaville.

Based on only two listens, I don't think the song is bad, but I must say I am a bit underwhelmed. Granted, it has a lot of elements that make up Nogi's sound, but at the same time, it likes to play safe.
There are no real surprises as far as I can hear, and I prefer a bit of adventure.

It's no surprise though, because the song for the High School Quiz always has this type of sound and it's only logical that they don't experience too much. And who knows, the song might grow on me when I hear a HQ version.

Renka rocked the stage though.

Speaking of song quality, what's Nogi's entry for this year's Japan Record Awards? Route 246?

also looks like we got the preview for the Nogi 2021 Calendar and it looks really great (that Kubo pic!)

 

If I was Nogi's management I would skip JRA this year. It's been the worst year since a while for Nogi's singles.

 

Well they really only have the 25th single and the two other online releases to choose from -- which isn't much. Much easier to sit this one out...

 

I think Shiawase as a song would work very well actually, but it needs Maiyan. I can't picture it with another center.
