Single AKB48 38th [Kibouteki Refrain] (2014/11/26)

Such a good song... to be wasted on a PV like this. I get the whole Team 8 x Toyota but this is too much.

 

Well, atleast it's not everything Toyota like SKE's GALAXY of dreams which you can see Samsung galaxies flying over the whole PV from 0:00 till finish

 

Seeing it's the only team getting a PV I'd say this is done with Toyota money... so yeah, no surprises here.
Hopefully they're going to the same place and sing/dance the last chorus together?

 

I hope the full Team 8 PV has more dance. I wish they all had (romaji) nametags because I have no idea who is who and it takes forever to figure out. I remember when I first got into AKB, the first person I identified was Mariko because she was tall and had short hair, and then Tomochin 'cause she had different coloured hair to the others. Even then it took me ages! I sort of feel like I would get into Team 8 more if I could work out who was who, but the shots change so quickly and I just don't have the time/patience to puzzle it all out. They're very cute though, and their voices are so childlike.

 

omg i love the song, the mv could be better, but if its a toyota ad then... anyway, im glad its a good song!!

 

Really loving the song, and I think the PV seems ok so far, I mean they could be wearing Toyota shirts and dancing in front of a Toyota store.

Still no news of the RH voting codes? Watch them being included in Milky's single.

Sakura passes the bag to someone, but her face is not shown in the video!!

 

I reckon put the bag on a pedestal and have a massive sea of girls reaching for it. Sorted. No definitive future ace (sorry that was a poor choice of word there) center declared, a myriad of possibilities shown, a whole load of debate about which girls were the nearest... Or have it at the end of a race track and line 'em up ready to go. Oooh the speculation that will result!

Firstly please forgive me my irresonsible misuse of the word "ace". That is my fault, a wrong word, fair enough.

But guys, this post was meant as frivolous fun light hearted speculation, with a touch of "what I wish they would do". OF COURSE I have no idea what they will actually do! Nobody does! OF COURSE the bag might not get passed further or might have no significance for the future at all. I was just having fun guessing. The AKB fandom practically runs on speculation and people gossiping about what will come next and what each and every little detail means, and I thought it was ALWAYS clear that we never actually definitely know. Did it honestly not come across from the "ooooh the speculation" that, well, I was speculating?? I stand by my suggestion as something I think would be kinda neat, but it's AKB, it's pretty unlikely, and they will do whatever they like. I get that.

*sigh* end rant. Next time I will use more smiley faces. And write WILD SPECULATION at the top. In very large letters

Now I will go back to my happy little world with wonderful AKB singles and amazing PVs and perfect live vocals on all the shows. I can dream, right?

 

Why do we keep perpetuating this idea of the Center Relay PV ending symbolizing who will be the next Center? How about the PV ends with it in Mayuyu & Sakura's hands, because they're the 38th WCenter, and as there is no 39th senbatsu announced, they literally cannot pass it off to someone else?

Also, I don't understand how the bag passing can be attributed to "48G Ace?" Takamina > Acchan I can understand, but Acchan > Jurina? Jurina has yet to be the 48G Ace, same as Paruru & Kojiharu. To my understanding the 48G Ace relay is as follows: Takamina > Acchan > Yuko > Acchan > Yuko > Sasshi > Mayuyu

But hey, it's not like Aki-P is gonna make a statement denouncing wota rumors about the Center relay-- helps keep people talking about it, I suppose

And I think it's not really an "ace thing" but those who became centers in a single.

Sasshi was never an ace, she's just immensely popular.

It's a center relay because the girls who carry the bag have been center at some point. That's it.
And it's not the fans saying it. It's the description the director gave.

Uchi will be there? We'll see.
Will they give the bag to someone else at the end? We'll see.
We're just speculating what we'll get to see, which is 70% of the content of this forum.

 

@Trinu @filipinosayakafan Yes, I understand & have seen the Center Relay article. I *know* it is a relay of AKB single Centers, which makes sense given it starts out as Takamina > Acchan > Jurina

But many people on this thread have discussed the bag passing from one to another as a portent of AKB/48G's next Ace. But the logic of "Center relay also = Ace relay" makes NO SENSE whatsoever, imho.

Also, the Center relay in the PV is a little flawed? If it was a non-repeating Center relay & Janken winners appear w/o holding the bag, then it would be: Takamina> Acchan > Kojiharu; WCenter on Yuuhi wo & Romance, Irane > Jurina > Ucchi; 19th Center & the same logic that allows Mariko into Center relay > Mariko; 24th Center, same logic would allow Ucchi in > Mayuyu > Paruru; 29th Center, same logic would allow Ucchi & Mariko in, but holds bag, probably because of QuadCenter on SayoCrawl > Itano; QuadCenter on SayoCrawl > Sasshi > Mayuyu + Sakura [as WCenter of the MV]

So the Center relay in the PV has some pretty particular rules/logic as to who the bag passes to next & who gets to *hold* the bag. None of which directly indicate the bag passing symbolizes/equals "AKB/48G Ace" unless "Ace" is a title passed to the next Center, which is a line of logic that makes Kojiharu an Ace when Heart Ereki came out, which, coming from a Kojiharu-oshi, is not very true, tbh...

I honestly believe the Center relay is loosely based on ONLY the 1st-38th AKB official singles & will end in Mayuyu & Sakura's hands...because there is currently no 39th senbatsu nor 39th single Center.

EDIT: Also @Trinu my initial example of an Ace relay using SSK results + Takamina is based on uhh somewhat official titles of "Ace?" I don't have an article to link, but I do distinctly remember stuff in like 0ji 59fun/early AKBingo where Takamina was officially titled as AKB's Ace, then the newspapers & commentators just labeled "AKB's Ace" as whoever wins the SSK that year, hence why Sasshi & Mayuyu are listed, etc.

ie. "The 1st rank 37th SSK winner, Team B, Watanabe Mayu. Truly, AKB's Ace etc etc"

 

One member may center many singles (like Acchan centers few single after Jurina center, not to mention Takamina's RIVER, Sakura no shiori and Ponishuu after Bingo!, Yuko centers Heavy rotation before sayokuro, etc), but in the MV the bag was given to each of them only once. (repetition not counted).
They even "skip" Yuko's Gingham check and heavy rotation and the only time she gets her bag is when Mayu/Paru pass Yuko's and Tomochin's bag (which is SayoKuro centers). If they really do centers per every single, it will be very messy.

 

More like "losely" based on the center history of AKB, not so much "flawed". If they had to do all the actual centers the bag would go back and forth so much it would look like freaking mess, so they're just putting the girls running for a while to give it a nice touch and be done with it.

@Trinu @souchan48 I did not list repeat winners [w/the exception of Mayuyu, because she is WCenter on the single/MV]. I understand how feasible getting all these members together & doing this weird, artistic thing. I shoot music videos in LV & there are *always* hiccups in production. But the logic this Center relay PV rides on is played so fast & loose, there's no concrete evidence as to "the bag given to someone = future Ace"...which many members on this thread are discussing/have discussed.

 

Actually I quoted your post because I agree with your points. And indeed, even if the bag ends up to certain member XXX (the director said it will be MayuSakura) and that doesnt mean they will be future akb center or even akb center for next single. If MayuSakura gets the bag, it just means because they are the center for this single rite? Not to mention Sakuratan is still one of HKT faces, just like Jurina's bag then. If AkiP favorites "Jurina" hasnt yet become akb ace after being labelled so for years, I doubt Sakuratan will be akb ace in one instant.

PS: Rather than being flawed, the relay is SIMPLiFIED version. The director did it intentionally i guess, to make sure the MV was neat and not too confusing. Note that the MV was taken in different locations, and graduated members doesnt appears in all location. Acchan only takes in same location with Takamina and Jurina for example.If they really want to do the real complete version, multiple centers will have to be in few locations.

There's just no evidence at all they'll give the bag to anyone after it reaches Mayu and Sakura, the centers FOR THIS SINGLE.
And I'm (we're) not talking about aces, I'm talking about centers.

And again, even if they give the bag to someone, it wouldn't mean much. Paruru got a key with a 36 in MaeShika's PV and she was in the 2nd row of Labrador, so...

 

That was quite a different thing imo. They didnt even tell us that key represent centers, but fans themselves assume it's so. But in this case, he did tell us it was center relay. Btw, the key might represeny being senbatsu in 36th single for all you know. They purposely make it vague to generate speculations.
