You now remember Saikin Kiita, two episodes ago, and Hiroyuki's remarks on the members that were at the studio.

Is there anything in AKB that isn't scripted?

Yay I was hoping AKB would release another single this year.

Happy that a 17th gen member (Sato Airi) was included. Maybe there will be a 17th gen song on the single?
I didn't expect Erii to be the center, but good for her. I think she will do well.

I bolded the two parts of your message that I feel prove my point. I quickly looked them up on Wikipedia and then checked the Oricon rankings for the release day as well as first week for the single you posted (Summer Lemon). They're not even in the top 50 weekly sales, and on flying get day, they ranked 4th, which doesn't show sales - but 3rd rank that day sold 7,221 copies, so we know it was less than that.

You can say no idol groups will achieve H!P or 48G/46 fame, and that may be true, but Sasshi's 2nd group ≠ME just released a single with 74k first day sales. It's nowhere near H!P or 48G/46, you're right, but they're still miles ahead of SUPER☆GiRLS.

I'm not saying you can't enjoy bikini MVs or that they don't exist anymore, but they're not as popular with the general public as they were 10 years ago.

Indeed there are actually none since they've never released bikini MVs for a long time, but afaik there were people who are against AKB48 performing in Tokyo Olympic 2020 because of that particular reason. Though the group doesn't have a bad reputation (at that time) from the general public, they were afraid that the group would bring a bad image to Japan.

I just hope we get some coupling song MVs this time (and that the songs themselves are good). Obviously I don't mean for the Showroom coupling song, they already promised that one would have an MV.

I can see the direction the management is going for in terms of pushing more members to relevance. Okada Nana is already one of the few post-10th gen who are relevant enough to the public. Honda, with her KPop stint, is also popular enough. So I guess they are trying to push Erii now, with the hope of eventually having enough popular members worthy to be called kami7.

I do hope Yuiyui still grows in popularity.

At the very least, Erii being center gives me hope it won't be NemoHamo 3.0.

Tomu out of senbatsu though, what the hell!?

    What are the remarks?

Personally i would like if the single belongs to the same tribe with Sustainable. It was among the catchiest recent single of them.

I don't think choice of clothing, whether revealing or demure, affects popularity and sales much, perhaps hardly at all. I'm sure if a sakamichi group released a bikini MV it would sell around the same, plus sakamichi girls' crazy high photobook sales prove fans have no aversion to bikinis and lingerie. And I bet those lesser-known groups that are doing bikini MVs right now would still fail to take off even if they released demure-clothed MVs.

    FURESSHU REMON ni naritai no!

I’m so excited for this single!! The outfits are cute, and an Erii center sounds interesting. Like most people I’m expecting a more idol-ish song, which is great.

I’m so happy for Mogi! This is long-deserved (and it also gives me hope Iwatate Saho might get a chance someday too). I’m also happy for Sato Airi, she’s my favorite 17ki and I think she will do a good job representing her generation.

I’m sad Naamin, Seina, Tomu, Nagi, and Manaka all got dropped :( I wish they would keep an 18 member senbatsu at least.

Details of the online talk events for the new single have been announced:

They will take place on the following dates:
    2022: 10/29, 10/30, 11/3, 12/10, 12/11, 12/24, 12/25
    2023: 1/15, 1/21, 1/22, 2/12, 2/19.

The first round of applications will open tomorrow (8/9) at Chara-ani at 18:00 JST and will close at 13:00 the following day. There will then be five further rounds (with almost certainly more to follow after that).
