You would have been very naive to think there is no such competition and animosity between kpop idols. Heck there have been rumours even such animosity are strong even if they are from the same group, for certain groups. Kpop idols are less close to each other than jpop idols are, at least apparently. Competitions are everywhere. They just manifest differently.

(Entertainment industries all over the world are damaging to teenagers. Teenage idols in Korea are forced to undergo PS. Look at won young and her buccal fat removal. Even in hollywood. Just look at former disney stars. Some child actors also went on to abuse drugs. Unfortunately that is the way. I am not advocating for or against such practices, but it is not unique to Jpop unfortunately).

    Time's up
PanDance Studio did the full version! from 3:30 ~

if the video does not show watch the video here
They only had about 3 hours to practice, so it's a bit rough, but still pretty impressive!
There's a bit of Nemohamo at the end too, seems like they like it.

And? What suits you doesn't suit everyone. Back in IZ*One, Hii also was criticized for her vocal tone. If you could accept that you aren't alone and cut your constant K-pop hatred, it would ease the discussion.

Yes? I know that DH nor UMG has released nothing telling that UMG would ever produce song/mv/etc. for AKB48.

I remember Gfriend was criticized for Japanese fetish in "Glass Bead" with those short shorts (aka bloomers), which members said they were embarrassing to dance in. I'm not sure if the criticism came solely from oversea fans or Korean ones too. Members sounded oblivious that the shorts came out of shonen manga. A possibility is that K general public too did not catch the Japanese reference.

The Korean tends to assume everything originates in Korea unless it obviously is not the case. And, anything that is in-your-face J-pop usually is not palatable to the Korean. Most very J-pop Korean groups are irrelevant thus, no one discusses on them.

I'm confident I'm not the one saying MotoKare nor the title song of this very single sound K-pop.

You cannot even differentiate between tutting and regular J-pop dance. No use to discuss further.

For A) Perhaps, if the rest of the MV is already good and this 'the beginning is the end' motif is executed well, perhaps, the impressiveness will be increased by 20%.
    B) Did you mean Easter eggs? Again, similar to A) it must be done cleverly to be effective.
    C) They already color graded the MV? I can see how teaming members up may be interesting unless you mean queerbait/shipping.
    D) Since, just you said, they used this a lot, the story or the way they tell the story must be very good for it to work. Storyline is the worst part in Nemohamo MV. Usually, the story line comes with sentimental song?

English accent can be forged. XG's members have developed fair accents but, indeed, only 1 of them can communicate in English.

You should ask yourself why Avex releases a JAPANESE group in Korea and, why LDH collaborates with HYBE. Think twice.

Is the problem DH cannot access to catchy tune or, cannot tell what is catchy tune? Do you think it is difficult to hire American or European music producers? And, if they can get their hands on a catchy tune, can senbatsu members sing it live? Practice for months? If a singer cannot hit a high note, by attempting to screech out daily without proper coaching, do you think the singer will develop vocal skill or vocal nodule? The same applies to choreography. NO choreographer always make good choreography. Can DH tell what is good? Can the member execute it?

If we are to talk about K-pop level of practice, it will be something like 5 hours+ of dance practice + ~2 hours of voice practice + 1-2 hour of fitness workout = ~10 hours for 6 days a week. I heard that theater activity was very time consuming and, there is handshake event too. Someone also may have to go to school. Where is the time to do all these?

Did NHK invite 3 K-pop girl groups to Kouhaku because of Produce 48?

I guess this is why I keep seeing wota complain a 48 song sounds K-pop?

Has any of them been on Billboard Hot 100? Has any of them landed in top 50 of UK/German chart?

I think this criticism has been around since 2010? Still, there are K-pop artists on Billboard Hot 100 chart 13 later. When was J-pop era? early 90's to mid 00's? So, K-pop has longer longevity? (Late 00's to early 20 and counting.)

I believe they are fans who like K-pop way better.

In K-pop, a fan is supposed to like every members of the group albeit in varying degrees or, he/she is a cancel-worthy akgae. So, an individual idol does not mind that much knowing she/he is not your 'bias', you still like her/him anyway. They are clips of K-pop idols teasing fans who have another member as bias.

If DH is determined to, it can do K-pop like talk event dividing members accordingly to their teams.

I can't be certain what format is better to the mental health of individual idols, mind that each individual has different preference, but the very 'in-your-face' disparity of AKB surely undermines 'teamwork', which is more essential on the Korean side. Overall, Korean culture is extremely collective, group oriented.

So, your conclusion based on "rumours", selective ones too? And, did you seriously believe AKB's members did not go under knives?

I guess it's the time of the year again for the annual pointless K-Pop vs. J-Pop discussion

Anyway ... offtopic ... if you really, really, really feel the need to 'discuss' this, open a thread in Idol Emporium

brilliant. lol i guess its obvious wheres that one dislike came from .

i think this single its a good comeback to oldschool AKB style. i wish something colorful MV ,upbeat, and cheerful song for next single .(Hebirote, Kimiwamelody, Sayonaracrawl, Koichun) type. And Ninagawa Mika needs to direct the MV.

I also don't understand the quality of recent MVs either. I mean, I know their single sales are really that high like before but they are not really that far off from other 46 groups and 46 groups do seem to have better MV quality...

Probably when Yuiyui performs with Team B at the theater again we’ll already have the next single or even the one after.

61st Single (Doushite mo Kimi ga Suki da) - 4th Sale 1st Round (3rd to 4th of 2023)

I debated whether to post this as a full spreadsheet at all, seeing as barely anything changed...

    TL;DR
    • Mogi Shinobu went from "10/50 (+1)" to "10/50 (+2)"
    • Sato Minami went from "00/24" to "00/24 (+1)"
    • Kuranoo Narumi went from "43/54 (+1)" to "43/54 (+3)"
    • Yamazaki Sora went from "02/30 (+2)" to "02/30 (+3)"
    • Masai Mayuu went from "03/20 (+1)" to "04/20"
    • Hirata Yuki went from "01/20 (+2)" to "02/20 (+1)"
So for Mogi, Satomina, Naru and Sorara, they only increased their number of nearly sold out slots (one each for Mogi, Satomina and Sorara, Naru got 2 more).

Mayuu and Hirata Yuki are the only ones to actually sell a slot each.

I know i am minority but that chorus part of the Hisarippu MV gives me a headache with all the cropped shots of member surrounding the dance shots.

The idea was there but the color grading was so all over the place and there are a lot of parts where it is too blue tinted.

The last MV i truly like (discounting hanarete itemo) is Sustanaible

I'm seriously worrying with those sale numbers, these are poor results (to not say catastrophic) and if it continues like this, AKB48 is going to encounter a very noticeable drop.
Only the kenkyusei as a whole are seing an increase in sold out slots for now.
I'm afraid that 300k in 1st week milestone isn't secured anymore.

Could this be the effect of ban if you dont pay what u win? If so, it might be that in the previous singles more slots are sold out but eventually not paid for?

As others have said, there's the threat of banning. Also, HisaLip had higher hanashikai sales than Moto Kare desu, yet Moto Kare desu has higher pre-order sales numbers on Oricon. To be honest, personally I prefer if fans don't bulk pre-order so much for hanashikai because there's the Oricon limit anyway. I am a bit worried too, not gonna lie, but I'm not too pessimistic just yet.

    Legend:
sold-out IRL dates/available IRL dates + sold-out online dates/available online dates = combined dates (+/–difference from previous round) Member Name

    Example:
    01/30 + 23/24 = 24/54 (+02) Oguri Yui (29+1=30 slots nearly sold out)
Yui has 30 slots available IRL and sold out one of them. She has 24 dates available online, and has sold out 23 of them. This makes a total of 24 out of 54 sold out. The number in brackets signifies the difference from the previous round (i.e. 2 more than previously). The numbers in brackets after the name show how many dates IRL + online = total only have a few tickets left to win/nearly sold out.
