That was an interesting read. Pretty neutral, not biased towards or against AKB48. Thanks for the link, giddy.

 

From vids, I couldn't tell they were lip synching. It makes me sad, especially since in the comments the author says they were lip synching to a new recording which would make it a voice over.

I think the highlight and probably the most contentious part of the article is the doling out of stereotypical personas to the girls.

 

I wouldn't say that the article was bad, but I would point out how it sounds like she doesn't really understand the concept of idols and is too keen to give her own subjective opinion, which isn't very journalistic of her.

Most of all, I don't really like how she assumes that the girls aren't smart enough to know why they were in New York. Of course they didn't personally ask to go there but they're not dense and it's not like they would have been against the idea.

I also have to take issue with how she assumes that most of their personalities are fake and completely assigned to them by the management.

For example:

I don't mean to bash your friend's article and it's certainly not Fox News-style biased or anything, but come on. No one can keep up an act 24/7 and I don't like the implication that the girls we support are completely fake. What evidence does she have to base this assumption on?

Just wondering has there been any news or something about a dvd being released with the full Webster Hall concert and not just the short documentary styled vid shown a while back?
