They are all part of the 2018 joint audition where several girls who passed got assigned to their respective Sakamichi group. Others who also passed later became Sakamichi Kenshusei. Moriya Rena is one of those 15 girls. Two other girls are Nogizaka's Sato Rika and Masumoto Kira, who are good friends as mentioned in one Kojichu episode, 1st part of B-news.

I've just read this article. How true is it?
    https://weekly-jitsuwa.jp/archives/133625

Sakurazaka 46's latest single's "second week" sales hit a record low, causing widespread upset: "Has the general public left?" "The group is coming to an end."

Sakurazaka46's latest single "How old were you when you wanted to go back? released on 21 February, recorded the lowest sales ever in the second week of its release.

Sakurazaka 46 is said to be the most active of the current Sakamichi groups, but what on earth is going on?

According to Oricon's weekly single ranking for 11 March, "How old were you when you wanted to go back? was ranked 6th with estimated sales of 11,118 copies in its second week of release.

'How old were you when you wanted to go back?' sold 434,000 copies in its first week, placing it in first place. The previous album, 'Approval Desire', sold 449,000 copies in its first week. The previous one, Start over!", sold 439,000 copies in its first week and 15,000 in its second week. It is standard practice for numbers to drop in the week after release, but 11,000 copies in the second week is the lowest number ever" (idol writer).

(Idol writer) Why did the figures drop so low?

The mechanism behind the first-week-only sales.

The AKB48 group and the Sakamichi group's signature technique is "contact" with the members, which is the reason for the sudden drop in numbers in the second week. The reason why the CDs sell so fast in the first week is because fans pre-order the CDs in advance. They get tickets for the online Meet & Greet, or "MeeGuri", as a bonus for purchasing the CDs, and apply for the lottery to attend the event. The more popular the members are, the quicker the slots for the meet and greets sell out, so the first week of the CD's release is the crucial one.

The drop in numbers in the second week has made it difficult for sales to increase, as the number of light fans who are not particularly interested in MeeGuri has decreased" (writer).

Idol fans also seem to be surprised by these figures: "Have the general public left? The fact that they are becoming more and more first-run type means that they are specialising in wotaku, and there is a sense that the SAKA group is coming to an end.

Sakurazaka 46 recently announced a Tokyo Dome concert, but will the seats be filled?

Even if 2nd week sales are lower, in terms of first day sales, this is their 2nd best selling single so far and in terms of first week, their 3rd best single so far. So far, we only have 3 weeks of sales (whereas previous singles have ranked for about 8-11 weeks) and this is already their 4th best selling single overall. Maybe it won't be their best selling single, but it'll still be good.

For overall sales, the ranking currently looks like this:
    1. 7th single (Shounin Yokkyuu) - 510,729
    2. 1st single (Nobody's fault) - 495,521
    3. 6th single (Start over!) - 470,174
    4. 8th single (Ikutsu no Koro ni Modoritai no ka?) - 449,748 so far
    5. 4th single (Samidare yo) - 434,015
    6. 2nd single (BAN) - 429,409
    7. 3rd single (Nagaredama) - 428,854
    8. 5th single (Sakurazuki) - 384,237

The fact that the upper half is mostly recent singles shows that the group continues to grow. I wouldn't be worried about them.

@Jsprite I'm so happy that there's at least one person in the world who remembers and commemorates this anniversary... And that puts me to shame as well...

There's an English language news page just posted on the official site saying that there'll be a ticket lottery for overseas fans for the 4th Arena Tour concerts in Tokyo on 6/15 & 16:
    https://sakurazaka46.com/s/s46/news/detail/E00352?ima=0000

The lottery will open for applications on 4/27 and close on 5/6. I won't be able to go but for international fans this is very welcome news.

It's about time considering seriously the option to trade a kidney for the possibility to spend a couple of months in Japan, travelling all through the land, accumulating tastes, senses, experiences, and memories as well as watching these amazing girls perform live...
And then die in peace... Lol joking...

I'd apply for that concert, but I can't justify going in June when I'm already going early May. I hope this is a thing going forward though and not just for this Tokyo Dome show.

I'd love to go but I just went in October 2023 and March 2024. The second trip was already very spontaneous and I didn't have as much money for it as I'd have liked. Also, I've kinda burned through my PTO with these trips (my job's PTO period is September to September) and I'm planning to move and change jobs over the summer...

That being said, I'm really appreciative of the fact it's open for international fans. I hope they will continue to do this in the future and also encourage other j-idol/generally Japanese artists to open up concerts to international fans!

Hoping that I do count as an "overseas fan", despite living here in Japan for 2 years already. If anything, I can probably just show them my foreign passport and get through.
Was a bit too busy to follow this tour's regular lottery, but the Dome is just too tempting.
