Hopes, Fears, and Predictions for 2019 (MNL48)

With 2018 coming to a close. It's time to do the yearly tradition for Stage48 (which I also put for other groups as well for stuff that you want to only happen with that group).

So what are your Hopes, Fears, and Predictions for 2019 for MNL48?

 

Hopes:
-Most Filipino citizens will accept them and love them for their music
-2nd generation!!!
-More 'okay' translations of the songs
-SKE song as an A-Side please!!!!

Predictions:
-2nd gen debut

 

Hopes:
- better quality MVs
- improved HS events

Fears:
- constant, useless negativity (rather than useful negativity)
- Filipinos will continue to be confused with the 48g concepts thus creating (useless) negativity (such as the idea of 2nd gen)

Predictions:
- Slow growth, the wotas are already there and I don't see the general population moving in that direction
- Theater
- 2nd gen

 

Hopes:
-Strong showing at Asia Festival leads to stronger national support and acceptance of MNL in the Philippines
-Commercial, modeling, and guesting jobs for MNL members
-Strong showing at World Senbatsu Sousenkyo, leading to Japanese recognition and support
-HEAVY ROTATION GODDAMMIT

Fears:
-Early graduation of a prominent MNL member

Predictions:
-Theater, probably heavily advertised first open
-Strong showing at Asia Fest/Sousenkyo
-HEAVY ROTATION GODDAMMIT

 

Hope: They will wear bikinis in their MV.

Fear: They will not wear bikinis and be very strict.

 

I certainly hope they won't, especially after all the controversy that Nadine Lustre received for wearing her bikini as an adult and at a freaking beach. MNL48 is not going to survive if it's suddenly seen as "softcore porn" in a Catholic country. At least it won't survive as something classy and moral. They'll be performing next to bar girls before you know it.

 

Hopes
- MNL48 CD Releases in actual music store
- RIVER single release
- Team M / Team N / Team L songs in one single release
- Undergirls songs
- Subunits
- TV Shows guesting
- HHE can buy a timeslot for an MNL48 shpw
- Or HHE x ABS contract will end/won't get a renewal for HHE can buy timeslot for an MNL48 show in other networks (might be cheaper / more options for promo guestings)
- MNL48 Commercial as a group ala BNK48 x Grab / JKT48 x Pocari Sweat
- Girls can now get / apply / audition for outside work (acting, modelling, commercials)
- MNL48 to sing a drama/TV show OST
- MNL48 beach music video, but of course, no bikinis lol shorts and tshirts/croptop are fine lol
- Sela / Abby hosting gig or idk it's just me I love their speaking voice lol

Too much hopes? But people are claiming 2019 will be MNL48 year so, let's claim it!

Fears
- Graduation
- They'll stick to online shows
- Music Videos not really improving

Predictions
- Graduation
- KKS resignations
- 2nd Generation :c

 

Hopes:
More singles
Better translated lyrics(and also pronounciation)
Better MVs
the Theater
better senbatsu sousenkyou
Better microphone
Better Soundsystem
Their own variety show
Removal of abscbn managament in the contract
a New and Better center
Team kaigai member form mnl48

Fears:
Graduation
Sheki becoming center again
No japan training
theater is not yet finished
college students graduation

Predictions:
Graduation
2nd gen
1 or 2 will enter world senbatsu sousenkyo

 

Hopes:
- great MVs on par with sister groups
- Cess and Ruth to be part of senbatsu
- Alice (overall captain) shouting MNL in RIVER
- More subunits
- Better TV guestings
- They choose a non-QC venue for an event
- Gain recognition with 48g concert in Thailand,
- Gain new fans especially converted haters
- They go to Japan as part of World Senbatsu
- A member will rank in world ssk.

Fears
- HHE will continue to produce bad MVs and ignore fans wishes
- Alice not getting the MNL! part in RIVER
- PH still sleeping on MNL48 even after the Thailand concert
- More haters even after Thailand concert and more so after another bad MV
- HHE will still insist on events on Quezon City
- ABS CBN will continue to ignore/not fully support MNL48

Predictions
-Haters will still continue to hate but some will be converted
-2nd gen
-maybe some Thailand concert buzz but ABS CBN will still not care
-maybe some World Senbatsu buzz but ABS CBN will still not care

 

Hoping for :

• original costume designs for MNL48 members.

I really don't buy their 'tribute' to AKB48. I'm kinda disappointed when I saw their PFC costume. The iiwake costume quality is nice, but it's also the exact copy of the original, except the patch ofcourse (duh)

 

For those that predicted for 2nd gen this year, it's already been announced

 

I'm late so I guess I'll just list my hopes:

- The theatre to finally open
- Better quality of MVs
- More fans, bashers will always be there but I just want a bigger fanbase for them to at least balance the haters
- Heavy Rotation to be the next single with team songs as the coupling tracks
- Hallo Hallo Mall to finally ship overseas to improve sales
- More avenues to see their physical CDs in the stores aside from Lawson
- More TV guestings, hopefully other than Showtime
- Actual online variety show since I really doubt that they'll get a time slot on ABS-CBN
- MNL48 to be endorsers of a publicly known brand or do commercial spots that'll air on TV
- Outside projects for the girls aside from MNL48 activities (maybe get cast in dramas, hosting gigs, or even voice acting)
- Someone to rank in 2019 SSK
- Center shake up in their first concert (Maybe do a live voting like this to see who's actually the most popular member/who people want as center in the event at least)


Just for me: To finally get to go to a handshake event lol It always conflicts with my schedule for some reason.

 

Lots of things (small, several good things and few but big, bad ones) already happened since the previous post...

Hopes:

- Coleen fishes more of the general public to give her fb posts more than 5k reacts on a regular basis
- Aly establishes herself as a regular Senbatsu member (not only in general elections but also in between)
- An investor funds MNL48 and create a stable business partnership with HHE
- MNL48 Theater is actually big inside and will not yet hold lotteries for fans (since the demand is not yet high enough for it to be feasible)
- AKS provide a more hands on assistance to HHE to enhance the quality of artworks, album covers, MVs, and marketing

Fears:
- Looking at MNL48's current financial condition, the next general election will again evict all members who don't get to rank
- MNL48 loses momentum and recedes back as an underground act, with very little chance of becoming popular
- More members gets dismissed in a vague and questionable manner, like Quincy
- A prominent member graduating because she can't handle the workload as an idol
- A member blurting out (accidentally curse or say inappropriate words) while on live broadcast

Predictions:
- MNL Festival as 5th single
- Theater will open in the last quarter of 2019
- The next member to graduate will do so in the Theater
- 3rd General Election will evict unranked candidates like in 2nd GE because HHE "can't handle more than 48 girls"
- 3rd Generation auditions will be rigged
- Aly stays in the senbatsu, if not remain as center girl, for the 5th single
- One MNL48 member will be transferred as a kaigai member in another 48 Group
- Game Senbatsu will have a coupling song for the 5th single
- MNL48 to extend its mall tours to Cebu and Davao, as well as in more of Region III and Region IV-A
- HHE will begin to utilize Showroom like their AKB and BNK senpais
- Abby to regularly represent MNL48 in the international scene

 

As if she doesn't already

But honestly speaking...I hope not. At least, not just her. As much I as absolutely LOVE that girl...other members deserve the spotlight too. Sheki deserves it. Sela deserves it. They all do, really.

I'm just hoping this is the year we finally get widespread MNL48 promotion, not just whatever Senbatsu exists at the time. And if not this year...then sometime soon. Hopefully.

 

Never happened with sister group to sister group or not involving AKB48, so most unlikely unless AKS will pull again a Ma Chia Ling/Abe Maria type situation with the auditions or perhaps a temporary one month like what happened with JKTxAKB last year.

But then again with SKE now holding 10th gen auditions regardless of nationality 1st time, if HHE will collaborate or perhaps former members like Sayaka Awane could make it.
