This I can fully accept as a substitute... what about 6th single Zumiko center and we get Pon solo?

I won't let myself hope that much, but I surely need more Pon singing.

I thought everyone would know by now but day 1 sales have nothing to do with song quality. Song quality only really affects sales after the first few days.
Day one is Individual HS, day two is some HS, some hardcore fans who would buy any single regardless and some song quality.
I'm sure this song will have great long term sales so don't judge the impact of the song just yet.

For example, Saimajo, who's still ranked in charts despite being released ~1,5 years ago

That makes me feel better. A jump of 80K puts them about 60K ahead of Fukyouwaon at this time. The master plan for long-term sales seems to be working, spreading their popularity beyond idol fandom.

Kanji is now totally sold out, with Kyonko joining them. Toshi, Sarina, Aya and MeiMei all have four lanes left to sell, and Memi has five. Manafi and Mao-chan both sold out one lane this week, Manafi's first. I'm also glad to see Memi sold out her first 18 and has been given the full complement of lanes (23 instead of 24 because sales of the first event are now over). If she actually sells them out, as I expect she eventually will, it will be a major milestone for her. She had the good attitude last week of being thrilled to sell 17, not frustrated not to sell more.

How Nijika has only sold out 11 I don't quite understand: she has really been showing herself well recently. Yone looks like she is low, only having sold 7, but that's because they did not give her any slots in the new year, so she could study. However, she has already passed her college entrance exams, so they have now released those slots to her and I expect those will go fast.

It's easy to fall into the trap looking at these thinking girls aren't selling well just because they aren't selling out. We dunno; they could be at 90% sold with that 10% representing like 20 people max. A pretty small distinction in reality but one that makes a very large void on these charts.

Has she ever sell her slots higher than this??? I don't think she ever sold out her slots yet so this might be her chance!

@glsone -- Good point. Too bad we have no way of knowing how sold out a slot is until it's totally sold out. But Nijika is a great story for me: from about the least popular member; to being an actress; to doing that farewell bow at concerts; to gradually getting better and better, both in dance and in variety; and now even to a more relaxed and happy manner (comparatively).

@too much idea -- I really think Oda Nana's remaining slots will go quickly. First, because there aren't many alternatives left (lol - that goes for Memi and others, too). Second, because she has really been showing what she can do recently, both in variety and in performance. I don't have the very final sales results, but in what I have, she sold 16/24 for Saison and 18/24 for Fukyouwaon. She can't sell more than 23 slots this time, though, because sales are closed for the first event, in which she sold out only 3 of 4.

EDIT: One more thing about Silent Majority. In the stats in the Oricon thread here, SaiMajo is listed as having been on the charts for 80 weeks. No Nogi song is listed as having been on the charts that long, with Kimi no Na wa Kibou the longest, at 77 weeks. Is this listing correct? Or are the older songs not being kept up to date? If it's true that SaiMajo has lasted on the charts for longer than any Nogi song, that's amazing. For AKB, only Ponytail to Shushu (86) and Heavy Rotation (123) have been on the charts as long.

I think the best indication is to see their total slots with every release? Nijiks is still being given the same amount of slots as the rest of Kanji members.. which means the sales are good enough to justify it even though she only sold out half of them... i'm sure if she only sells 50% of the amount available, management will decrease the total slots.

The total amount of slots have nothing to do with being selling well or not. You can look at the Nogi HS result, a lot of them still have 20+ slots single after single without selling out any of those slots.

That's entirely the point. You can't say whether a girl sells well or is popular or not based solely on how many sold out lanes they have. Would you call a girl with 0 sold out lanes but 99% of her total # of slots sold someone who sells poorly?

You can call a girl who sells out popular for certain, but you can't call a girl who doesn't sell out unpopular for certain. You can call them not as popular from it though, which is how I use the HS sales charts.
