semi Naako related
there was a Ramen Festival in Singapore today, and one of the hilights was the speed eating challenge. Special Guest at the event was Giant Shirota! [Aka Naako's trainer!]
After the competition, I was already buzzed on sake, so I thought why not. I approached him and in my ruddy japanese, I told him I was a fan of Keyaki and thanked him for training Naako.
At first he was surprised and wondering why i was talking to him, but he burst out laughing when i mentioned Naako and shook my hand.

related note: His hands are bloody massive. and Gigantic. Im 1.78. and he towered over me. scary.

but still, Naako related, and it was cool. Shook hands with someone who interacted with Naako!

 

@Blitzius thanks for sharing and its cool to meet Giant Shirota in Ramen Festival. He must be shock when you mentioned watching Keyakake and coaching Naako for her 2nd eating contest.

saw some photos from Naako's fans and they got Naako autograph on the items that they brought for Naako to put her autograph.

Naako did a wonderful brief Showroom after TIF:

Such a lovely voice, clear comments, direct gaze, respect for and intimacy with fans.

• She cut her own hair by 15cm, but got the make-up person to tidy up the back. And her hair is black again -- black with a tinge of blue.
• She showed her ears and said with a shy grin that they were small.
  
• She had Kobe cheesecake for breakfast -- bought with Pe-chan -- heated in the microwave until the cheese ran.
  
• She's never been to a Tokyo matsuri and wants to go.
• She has Soba for lunch, maybe Namban chicken. She doesn't drink coffee, it's not sweet enough. Caramel frappuccino is the closest she comes. Looking forward to eating peaches.
  
• Lots of talk about food. Nothing about TIF or Techi. She gets to choose which comments to respond to, and managers probably give instructions.
  
• They're not free to change their hairstyle as they want, but she cut her own hair anyway. She doesn't use Pantene (which we saw in her bag) but something from the stylist with a great fragrance (Merit?).
  
• She enjoys a YouTuber called Momona, who is a Japanese student studying in Korea. Some commenters told her they watched her, too. She also likes one called Nekoten. And she watches Sky Peace a lot.
• "Everyone knows a lot about this," she said in admiration as she spoke about the YouTubers and viewers' comments rolled in.

In today's blog post, Naako shows herself out just beyond the edge of the audience at TIF, watching other groups, and talks about meeting members of other groups. She met Mochizuki Miyu of Band Ja Nai Mon (a group she loves) and the two of them want to go to Disney together. "It's great to be an idol," Naako mused. She also enjoyed Tokyo Girls' Style, and says their dancing was together and their outfits suited them well. She met up with Shouji Mei of TGS, who is also from Yamagata and is a friend. Naako also said she's really into BiSH these days, and loved seeing them live for the first time. She also mentioned HKT. An idol otaku becomes an idol, and remains an ordinary person at the same time.

As @too much idea points out over in the SHOWROOM thread, Naako ended her SHOWROOM session quite abruptly to go and eat. I myself wasn't quite sure it was really over and that she wasn't going to just have a few bites and come back. Lol. Naako is Naako: fans may come first, but food is a close second.

Just before the first Sendai tour performance, Naako planned to go home to Yamagata for a day (it's not a long train ride from Sendai). But she slept through her stop on the Shinkansen and ended up in Iwate. She got back to Sendai, but by the time she got there, there was no train from there to Yamagata, so her family had to drive four hours total to Sendai and back to get her -- getting back to Yamagata at 1 am! She told the story in an encore MC session at the Sendai concert Tuesday evening.

Naako is Naako.



EDIT: I've just read a tweet from someone saying that when Naako was acting as MC during the encore, they saw an old lady in the VIP seats with a Naako towel, wiping her eyes. They thought she was probably part of Naako's family. It gives me pleasant chills, just thinking of them seeing her as a real idol for the first time, being what she had always wanted to be. And doing things they had never imagined she was capable of, perhaps.
