Very surprised and very happy to see Naopon ranking in the preliminary results! When I saw her name on the list, I had to double check it to see if it was really her and not another member with a similar name. I know it's just 1st day results and that this doesn't mean she'll be in the final rank, but it's still a huge deal. She did this with no push whatsoever. She wasn't featured in the Suki Suki Skip songs (except for the KKS song of course), and she didn't get any screentime in the TV shows I've watched so far. The only thing I can think of is that she must be a hell of a handshaker.

Hello everyone! (・ω・)♪

Today I did the "Party ga Hajimaru yo" stage (´艸`)
My unit was "Hoshi no Ondo".

And after the performance,
there was the flash annoucement
of the 5th AKB48 Senbatsu Sosenkyo!

It's my first senbatsu sosenkyo.
I trembled and my heart pumped while
I watched the live broadcast in the backstage.

When my name was called out for the 57th rank,
I really couldn't believe my eyes and ears.

I was happy from the bottom of my heart!!
To all the fans who always help me and support me!
Thank you very much!

Until the day of the sosenkyo, I'll have
plenty of opportunities to appeal to fans,
like the stage performances and the Budokan concert.

With the senbatsu sosenkyo, we don't know
what's going to happen until the very end.

I want the people who are wondering
"What kind of girl is this Okamoto Naoko?"
to get to know me!!
And I don't want the people who are supporting me
to feel ashamed. More than before, I'll devote myself
more and more and do my best in the Okamoto style!

Okamoto Naoko is an energetic girl who
loves thighs! Loves anime! Loves sumotsu!
But it's obvious that what I love the most is singing♪

** Take this sentence with a big grain of salt. The original sentence is 岡本尚子とは、太もも大好き. The only translation I could find for 太もも is "thigh" or "butt", and I suppose she's talking about her own thighs (because it'd be weird for her to just like thighs in general, right?). I'd be grateful if someone who speaks Japanese can check this one.

EDIT: It seems that she does indeed like to touch other people's thighs. I've corrected the translation above.

So she didn't rank afterall. Can't say it wasn't expected but it still would've been nice to see another Hakata 2nd gen bby on the board. On the bright side, ranking in premlims surely got her some attention and mgmt may decide to start pushing her among the 2nd gen next.

By the way, Naopon posted a 2-shot with Umeda Ayaka from the handshake event this weekend. Naopon is in Umechan's position in Nounai Paradise, so it's nice that they got to meet, even if briefly.

Yes, Naopon's voice is really beautiful. Her voice makes me choose her as my favorite HKT48 kks I'm happy they let her sing Nakinagara Hohoende at theater show, her voice suits MARIA more, but a solo performance is definitely a good thing. Ahh, I hope in team H she will get a unit which emphasizes her vocal quality.

Gotta say, she caught my attention when I was watching LOD from theater 1st anniversary even though I only found out what her name is months later (only recently, actually). I like how powerful her dance is and also when I heard her voice in MARIA I was totally surprised by her singing.

Oh Naopon, if only you didn't mess up the lyrics LMAO

 

I don't have the link, but if you want you can try watching Nounai paradise at February 13th, she performed Nakinagara Hohoende for the first time there. The show on that day is also a good one, watching that surely will be worth your time.

Her voice in Kataomoi no Sotsugyoushiki is so beautiful as well
