I wouldn't talk so soon. Yurina from Berryz Koubou is actually 182cm tall.
And I'd give Natsumi at least two more years of possible growth even though Japanese girls do tend to be shorter.

 

i hope she won't get much taller, because in Asia being too tall is not a criteria of beauty (on the contrary, having a pale skin is a great criteria). Also, it very put Asian male (who are not very tall average) uneasy when their girlfriend are taller than them.

The height could be an advantage if she decides to become a model after her idol career.
For being an idol it's better to be short that's true but it's not the only criteria there is. Like you said, pale skin for example. Or big eyes, what have you.
Many girls find a way to uniquely stand out because to stand out first means to get recognized and getting recognized means getting fans. So the height might still be to her advantage as an idol.
There are many pros and cons to this.

I also like how in Sasshi sort got her into this 'boss' character, she is definitely stood out more and is quickly growing on me.

I was kind of disappointed that she didn't get into Suki Suki Skip senbatsu, but than considering she is only 12, that is kind of understandable. I really looking forward to her development.

 

even though she's far on the right on the last PV "ima ga ichiban". She really stood up. I think she will get popular really soon.

 

I think her popularity has already risen, the question now if can she get into senbatsu soon. I assuming her omission had more to do with her age and the fact she was about to graduate from elementary school rather than actual popularity. But we'll see.

At her level she's really gaining by settling her "boss" character so that way people recognize her more easily.

I said at her level because you have to do it step by step.
-If you keep too much on the character, you end up being "lame" like ichikawa miori with her lemon gag.
-On the other hand, with Mayuyu sweeping little by little from her "cyborg" character to grown up in a beautiful girl is really something people are expecting.

So for the moment it's good to be the "boss". I don't think she will rank but she is still young, and have to prove one's pur.

Wait and see, but she has great potential IMO.

i agree with you about lemon gag, doing step by step may be will be a good path to be walked.
her boss character is just the beginning and it is still a beginning so her way is still long to go but no problem because yes like you said she is still young and have more time.
her dance is good enough when i see her performing seifuku resistance even with her tall body the details of dance isn't fading.
