    She could use a hand.

    Yes we are.

It depends. It's true that there aren't as many Team 8 live events as before, but they still exist. It's just that some have more "outside" jobs than before. Think about it, when was the last time you saw Yuiyui, Berin, Naru, Nagyu, Tanao, etc. in one of those events (except the solo ones, of course)?

It's still hard for the 2.0s to sell out slots.

We'll see what happens in 2019, since some girls will turn 18 now.

Overall, while it wasn't bad it could still be a lot better, there's still a lot of potential that isn't being used.

While some names would be there for certain, they're not really selecting the "top 16" (which doesn't really exist) for Team 8 songs anymore. Take a look at Hachinosu Dance, with Hidaaya, Kossan, Ranrii and Moka. There's always at least a few not so popular names they include. Therefore, Nagyu, Yoko, Hijirin, Nanamin, Berin, Yuiyui, Odaeri, Shiorin (if she doesn't graduate), Hattsu (?), Serika, Tanao, Yamada, Onishi, Ikumin, Shitao, Gyoten, Rissen (?), Naru and the rest is up to them. Holy shit, I actually said more than 16 names and I left Hama out!

that's the thing, it made the top members even more top while for the rest it hasn't offered much yet. With D3s and 16th coming up more and more, possible 17th next year...
    I'd agree with that
don't even remember what happened in the first half of the year anymore...
    • Oh right, first of all that thing happened which made two of my most favourite shows go south and more.
    • The gravure contest was fun but won by almost all the wrong people and the way it ended pretty much summed it up.
    • The SR contest was nice... but when you remember the way Maria and Ayaka decided to actually contest it...
    • There were winners and losers in SSK and probably more of the latter but that's just how it goes. (Deep statement.)
The second half of the year was extremely boring. Probably the few Global Warming Meeting moments. Other than that, meh.

    In general:
    • The way the SR space was handed on a silver platter to STUs and other D3s is largely disappointing indeed. The SNS handling in general has not been very inspiring. The SNS policy for 2.0s is completely arbitrary and confusing.
    • We keep waiting until they turn 18 but, well, this year's graduations didn't exactly help in keeping the hopes high. Clearly many of the girls already become dispirited enough by then.
    • That brings us to the school related hiatuses (real or de facto) and in general girls who focus on school. Way too many.
    • The health related hiatuses are of course even more ridiculous. "We are not Keya", but you'd have to convince me "we" are that much better.
    • The 2.0s really need something anything to promote them more.

    • Nagi had a great year, senbatsu incoming. Yokochan cannot be reviewed. Hiji did not do what we would expect (joining Pdyu, ranking in SSK) then she beat Yokochan in dance audition... in general still has potential, but also might better be fulfilled elsewhere, we'll see. Nanamin cannot be reviewed. Akarin keeps working hard and she found her place, gets jobs, kind of ranked in SSK, good stuff. Kirara found a friend. Macchan made already name for herself as the second Homma Mai, what more could you wish for.
    • Berin found a friend. Hiichan also found friends. Maria and Ayane will become musical actresses, that's already settled, nothing to see here. Nanase is kinda same as Akarin, will do fine. Yuiyui proved she's funny as I always told you; Moeka is also funny though... Odaeri did literally everything she could, fully solidified her status and still can aim higher. Shiorin didn't even won the gravure contest but apart from that... Hidaaya keeps being completely random so it'd be really great if she improved her SNS game (where are the skating videos?)
    • Nothing to review in Chubu... ok. Hattsu is at least working hard in SR and elsewhere, if she stops to prefix every sentence with any variation of "I'm so bad at this and I'm so ugly." then maybe I even start supporting her again; somehow it also feels like there's a part of management that would put her in the centre of IZ4846 and another part that would prefer to send her to MUM48 so her push has been confusing. Yokomichi returned as the prettiest girl in Eito, now if she only started SR again. Yuuna won the gravure, but yeah, Chubu. For the rest I really don't know what to say anymore lol, ganbare
    • Serika had a really tough year obviously. Nao keeps doing fine I guess. Yamada is hard to say due to what happened. I still strongly hope Ruka will show us all her... true potential when she leaves high school, but she also may focus on school a lot, we'll see. Onishi became so boring and Team4fied and she still has shit hairstyle, where's the oshihen button? Hama got some pace with the Bingo appearances (was already last year maybe, not sure) but kinda stalled in the second half of the year, could do better, needs some splash.
    • Unfortunate year for Ikumin all around, hard to say what are her next steps gonna be. Hiina is doing ok, baby steps. Kotone is getting some push but whether it's transferring to popularity I'll evade answering. That Team A (non-)performance and mainichi idol loss broke Okumoto for some time, she has enormous potential but also has not yet shown that much (and when she did they said Yuiyui sang better anyway ok) compared to Missaa, but ok she has plenty of time still. Shitao is obvious. Yuki also hasn't shown much yet which is quite alarming considering her age. I think Yurina could and should have been much further already, she progresses consistently but at veeeery slow pace, it's somewhat annoying how she does all those least rewarding jobs and never gets anything extra. Another year of us waiting for Rumba. Rissen proved herself already.
    • Karen's family SRs are the best, other than that idk. Missaa is being recognized for her performance skills - I still haven't seen why but whatever works - so at least she'll always have some jobs, would be nice if her drawing also turned into something and if she became much more communicative in SR. Haven't seen much of Misakki considering she should have been completely free, think she could have done much more of a challenge in the SSK SR event as well. Don't know about Naru, rough SSK but seems like she might have become stable senbatsu? Kyoka is "kawaii" of course, doesn't matter what goes on. Ranrii done great in the SR event so kinda shame what happened.

Sounds like it's the intended goal.

No question for Hiji. She is now a clone for taking top 3. Otoh, Any prospect of 2.0 as the future of eito?

Serika went from #67 to unranked (#104) in Sousenkyo, got eliminated early in PD48, while PD48 itself made her missed a spot in Hachinosu senbatsu.

Can someone summarise the SR and gravure competition? I wasn’t a fan then.

There was a competition for Manga Pocket's cover; people would vote online and by postcard. The first round was divided into the six areas. Tsumugi won in Hokkaido-Tohoku, Shiorin in Kanto, Hattori in Chubu, Onishi in Kansai, Ikumin in Chugoku-Shikoku and Karin in Kyushu. Then we had a final round a few days before the Sousenkyo. Since Tsumugi graduated she was replaced by Nagi. Karin eventually won, but since she... graduated the cover went to Shiorin, which had promised to show her ass. So... where's her ass?

Anyway, thanks to that, Shiorin became the first eito to do swimsuit gravure.

EDIT: Oh! I forgot to mention that there were photo sets for everyone, and the finalists had another one.

So her swimsuit gravure is on some magazine? I know I’ve seen it before. I’ve also seen the pocket manga ones already for almost everyone.

To add a few thing, the contest was nice idea at first and used one of the key stuff in 48 groups : fans participation through voting tickets
However this was also one of it's main flaw combined with the final being held too close to the sousenkyo.
As a consequence, some of the finalists asked their fans to prioritize the sousenkyo.
    Hence Karin's victory.

Without the sousenkyo, the result could have been totally different, such as blood bath between Nagi, Ikumin

The top 16 got a prize - song with an MV in the SSK single.
We thought the SR queens Onishi and Tanao would make the top 16 with ease, but thanks to the STUs it became so incredibly contested that they would have to spare some time which they refused to do for various reasons.
Nanase was mildly serious from the start and after she failed to rank in SSK sokuho (was about a week in the competition) she went all in. Ranrii was all in pretty much from the start because she never believed she could rank. Maria and Ayaka originally claimed they were too busy to join it seriously, but they failed to rank in sokuho as well - then suddenly they both announced they want to end in the top 16 with a week handicap, which was an incredible task for sure, fortunately the Eito fans got together and they both made it in the end.
    ------------------------------------------------------
it could also have been a battle between Ruka and Yurina. The fact that the girls were like "I really want to win this!" in the preliminaries but didn't care for the finals, while they beat girls who would've cared for sure, was regrettable.

omg the Rissen+Hattsu+Kurena+Aoki talk was the most awkward thing ever lol

^ if it wasn't for their last minute decisions...I wouldn't have had the opportunity to oshi Nanase and Maria
(or team Eito for that matter. It was around that time that I tot it'd be fun to break the usual Eito S48 contributors' monopoly)

so 2018 was good year for Team 8 overall for me. Wished I had joined up earlier to see em grow but I (happily) 'blame' Juri, Sakura and Nogi for that

Has Nanase been gaining traction this year? I assume things went uphill for her ever since early 2017’s bunbun and her being an MC for the Chiba bachikoi which is entertaining for this year and Ranrii is gonna return in Jan but still not 18 yet and has school to deal with.

I can see Maria being everyone’s non-main oshi. I never missed her SR, same goes for Nanase (does that mean she should be my oshi huh). After Kurena graduating, I kinda want Maria to be my main oshi but naruchan, yokoyui, nanase, shiorin & odaeri (who’s also been climbing up fast in my list) keeps telling me no lol.

Also, who are the 2.0s? Those who are not 18 yet? And I have no idea what the restrictive SNS policies are. SR policies would be cannot stream beyond midnight right and under 18 before 10?
