More information forthcoming, so I'll be updating this OP as often as necessary with links, pictures and information until it becomes the one stop source for everything regarding AKB48's 2012 calendars. Each member of AKB48 will be getting their own individual poster calendar, with the exception of Minarun. These are size B2 (27.83 x 19.69 in), 1 poster only, MSRP 981 yen. The more popular members (read senbatsu from the 3rd General AKB48 Elections minus the double Matsuis from SKE48) also get Tokyo Date calendars which are 8 pages, 30 x 30 cm (11.81 x 11.81 in) with a case, MSRP 1980 yen. You can either use it as a desk calender or hang it on the wall. Shogakukan will also be releasing the AKB48 Official Calendar Box 2012, which includes a wall calender size A3 that features the 21 members that won this year's 3rd General Election, 12 clear folders featuring 12 selected members, a paper fan and a message sticker. Order before November 7th to secure your first press bonus, another sticker which differs depending on which store you order from. Sample Images: It's that time of the year again to waste our money on calendars that we never use but only hang on the wall to look pretty! YesAsia seems to be listing them already. Is the difference then that all will have a 1 sheet calendar and some will also have an 8 page one?
Correct. You posted before I could add that information to the OP (it's there now) but basically every member besides Minarun gets a individual poster that has all 12 months on it, while senbatsu from the recent election get a 8 page mini one, with 2 months on each of 6 pages and the remaining 2 being a cover and back.
Just saw the HMV email, mind = blown. B2 size, crazy... I hope they come rolled up instead of folded oh well, I'll be buying a ton just to support my underdog favourites
I have a question, where do you get the 8 pages Tokyo Date calendars online ? I manage to search yesasia for the posters but not the Tokyo date calendars. Thanks for the info provided.
OMGOMGOMGOMGGGGGG Miorin has a calendar... ;___; I thought it would be some off the wall chance that she would have one this year but it's happening. I dun even care that it's just a poster with a bunch of months on it, this must be mine. And Nakayan and Nacchan too! Oh my... my bank account is crying right now.
Seriously. I opened it expecting another simple email about whatever magazine AKB would be appearing in next, only to go "._. Wait, why the hell is this so long?! " Good idea to have individual calendars for all the members, at any rate. Now they have me buying MORE than last year, and I already bought 3 last year that just sit in my room doing nothing because I can't bear to rip a page off the calendar Hopefully this year the calendars have spirals or something. I'll be buying Mayuyu's Poster + Tokyo Date calendars as well as Acchan's Poster + Tokyo Date calendars. The past 3 years all I've bought is anything with Mayuyu in it, but somehow I find Acchan more likable day by day and my priorities are seriously confused
^I don't like ripping of the pages either, but there's a very easy way around it if you use some iron wire. From what I understand, the 30x30cm can be used as pin-ups as well, so if they are a type of desktop calendar, I assume they have rings... Eiher way, must buy asap
Sigh, it's that time of year again where I wonder at kust how many calenders I can buy, well I suppose I will always know what day it will; be!
You must explain the secrets of your ways Yes, 100% chance. I might update the OP with those links too, if I can figure out a way to do it without it getting too messy. Should've just reserved the second post and used that for CDJapan links whenever they come up, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20
I'd be a LOT more excited if the 8 page calendars were B2 size... it's nice to have the one sheet calendars for every member, but it's a downgrade for the members who have gotten them in previous years.
^ ^ All right thank you! Can't wait to get huge B2 size posters... If I buy too many, I won't have room on my walls anymore.
These aren't the calendars usually put out by the girls' agencies (at least, I don't think) so unless they were told not to make them this year or whatever; we may still get the regular B2 sized 8 page calendars for the girls that usually get them.
Run some iron wire through the calendar, so it 'rests' on the wire, rather than using a nail through the hole to hang it up: You can easily flip the pages without damaging the calendar. Downsides: you'll be able to see some of the wire and you need two nails (or attachment points) instead of one.
Thanks for the tip. I'm the type of person that believes in using things I buy so unfortunately my Tomochin calendar took a beating this year. But I'll definitely do that with the ones I get this year.
Oh God, then I would have to buy 6 X_X I'm ok with just these convertible desk to wall calendars, even if they're a bit smaller. If they were going to release normal B2 size calendars, they should've skipped on the poster ones for those who were going to get the traditional B2. Thanks for the advice and the picture! Seeing your setup, it makes sense. Perhaps I'll try doing that with Mayuyu's 2011 calendar. Best pictures of her EVER, and maybe now I'll actually get to see them and use the calendar.
The CDJ links (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/special/calendar/akb48.html) are up! AKB48 has its own category now.
