Single NMB48 25th [Shidareyanagi] (2021/06/16)

Must be Now had a 9 member senbatsu, they went for dance specialists. A bunch of popular members were left out of senbatsu which ruffled a few feathers.

 

Right now if we only count active members, HKT has 48 members too, if we count Sakura and Nako who will return soon, they're at 50 members in total. But for HKT's 14th single, they have exactly 48 members participating (with 1 of them graduating soon, Madoka). in HKT's case, their single has a total of 4 songs: the a-side with 2 different senbatsu of 12 members (total 24 members in senbatsu), 2 different b-sides with each 12 members in senbatsu (total 24 members in b-side), and 1 solo song for Madoka who is graduating. So half of the group participate in the a-side and the other half in the b-side. I kinda like how everything is equal for the different senbatsus!

I feel like NMB could have done something similar, except they don't have a double senbatsu for a-side (and since it's Miru's final single as center, that kind of thing wouldn't be suitable) maybe they could have done something like: a-side with 24 members (Miru center), 2 b-sides of 12 members each, 1 solo song for Mirurun who's graduating (I'm being realistic with the amount of songs because 48G singles have a very little amount of songs in recent years). So maybe something like this would have been nice. But maybe they made the a-side with 14 members because they'll have 2 b-sides of 17 members each? That works too, but it's a bit sad to have a little senbatsu for a-side. Then again all the focus will be on Mirurun. but I liked how the whole SKE was in senbatsu for Jurina's last single, having a big senbatsu for a graduation single doesn't take away the focus on the graduating member, if it's done well.

 

I like your ideas but I think there's a big difference between Jurina and Miru. Jurina was the last member of 1st Gen and I know this applies to Miru, but Jurina was also the face of the group since the very start. Handing a few centre positions to other members or even her pretty long hiatus didn't change that fact. Jurina = SKE48, in my opinion, and that does worry me for SKE's future but as always, it also makes me hope they will come out stronger for it. Miru graduating from NMB is more like Miichan and AKB. While it marks the end of the group as it used to be in its beginning, I'm sure everyone will agree that AKB won't crumble once Miichan has gone.

What I'm trying to say is that Miru doesn't equal NMB, she's "just" a member of the group.

It's a bit weird though to think that all three groups are losing their last 1st Gen member in the same year...

 

While I agree Miru is not on Jurina's level in terms on influence, but she has been the ace of the group since Sayanee's graduation, so she is not just a somebody in the group. Miichan does have the longevity, but she has been in and out of the senbatsu at the latter stage of her AKB career, so I would say Miru is in between those two. Though I do agree, Mirurun's graduation won't kill NMB, instead I am more worried about the cumulative number of NMB graduations lately.

 

But what's all that got to do with Mana saying he likes the idea of an all-member senbatsu? There's no 48group book of laws that dictates an all-member senbatsu is prohibited if the center wasn't Aki-P's favorite.

 

I was mostly referring to the part about how Jurina's graduation single had a senbatsu filled with the entirety of SKE48.

Like someone else has recently said about another topic on this forum, what works for one group doesn't work for others. I'm not sure it would work similarly as well for NMB as it does for SKE.

Okay but we're talking about this current single... I don't know why I have to spell everything out word for word when we're on NMB48's 25th Single, and have just mentioned that Jurina ≠ Miru. In my opinion, what works for Jurina's gradsingle wouldn't work for Miru's because there is a difference in how important they are to their respective groups. What worked for Sayanee also might not work for Miru because, once again, they were different.

 

IIRC for Sayanee they include all members only in mv right? And only in dance scene (and the farewell scene) at that.

 

But what exactly is your arbitrary definition of it "working" or "not working" huh? Even after 15 weeks the Koi Ochi Flag MV still has less than 700K views and we all know 48group singles get most of their sales from handshake/meet-and-greet events regardless of who is center, the number of girls in senbatsu, the type of song etc etc. Sounds to me like all-member senbatsus don't even have an effect. NMB and SKE could even have done it for non-graduation singles like Datte Datte Datte and Frustration and it probably wouldn't have had an effect (at least nothing relating to whether the center was graduating or not). Jurina ≠ Miru is irrelevant to whether it would "work" or "not work".
