Single Nogizaka46 21st [Jikochuu de Ikou!] (2018/08/08)

I guess we're all waiting for the Nanase/Maiyan song. Nanase has never been given a terrible song so it will be great. Not sure the same is true about Maiyan. We'll have to split the difference. It'll be an okay song.

 

Chikyuu ga Marijuana!

The title itself is already something else (The Earth is Marijuana). The melody does sound like someone who is got high by Marijuana.
The girls envoy this 'got high' feeling nicely in the recorded version. Pretty hard to be sung live I'd say, so yet another challenge for them.

I'm not sure what are they trying to say with this song. Maybe something like "We love the earth so much"?

地球が丸いなら [Chikyuu ga Marui nara] sounds like a cute song at first half of the song, then it gradually turns into Fate/stay-night-OP/EP-ish song, which is surprisingly good.

 

Maybe I like strange songs but chikyuu ga marui nara sounds nice and relaxing, like you are in some sort of dream, floating around in the air.

Within the first few seconds this song reminded me of dareka wa mikata (誰かは味方), which also resembles this dreamy atmosphere (although I think dareka wa is the better song).

Only real setback might be the vocals, which aren’t terrible but not very good either. But still the tune, and the fact that we have 3 future aces together more than makes up for these shortcomings.

 

I really like this song. Usually, Nogizaka songs take me a few listenings before I start to like them, but this one hit me right away. It feels like a very old school Japanese song, so yes, I can see why some feel nostalgic when listening to it. I get the feeling of watching outside the window looking at the rain, and then going outside and jumping around puddles in the rain.

 

Oh wtf... I read it as Mariyuana LOL!
RIP my time to try understanding the song...

you guys are right, this is definitely a 48-sounding song.

 

yeah it's the instrument is 48ish for me, but every song which nogi has perform always flawless!
i love the dress, but the blue one is meh! the gold one and peach one is so fancy.

Yeah, I agree too. It is a 48-sounding song but for some reason, it became Nogizaka-sounding. They owned it!

EDIT: I just hope their amount of haters won't increase due to this song being 48-style.

I don't really hear the 48 resemblance, probably because I like what I hear.

My gaze is constantly drawn towards Umezawa by the way. Dear god that stage presence.

 

I love the songs but the rest is meh... The dresses are hideous, and a Taiyou knock kind of choreo would have been much better for such an uplifting song, this one is too tame

 

I think the mindset for at least for the last 1 year++ is nogi always performing ballad-cool type song ? Sayo imi , Influencer , nigemizu , itsuka dekiru , synchronicity?

They also perform some catchy songs , but its been a while they’re not doing it. For A-Side at least.Honestly i prefer this rather than nigemizu or even hadashi de summer , but well said my favorites summer song top 3 still hashire!bicycle , girls rule and taiyou knock.

This kind of instrument, yes for some audience might resemble sukinanda a little bit ? But i dont think its the same vibe with 11gatsu

Well haters gonna hate , but they should be more ashamed when in fact they’re ripping exactly same melodies for a slight seconds even it is legal. i may be a minority here , but if it comes related to my faves, im little bit sensitive lol.

 

Nice song. I still hear some references to AKB, perhaps in the instruments. But this is still unmistakably a nogi song. I think it strikes a very nice balance between fun sounding 48 songs and the unique vocals of nogizaka.

*EDIT: Personally don't see anything wrong with slight cross-overs between 48 groups and nogi. In fact it seems like with this song nogizaka is doing a better job at being AKB than AKB being AKB (if that makes any sense).

As for the dresses, well, not really a big fan of them. The choreography? It's simple and refreshing.

Cute little moment with them playing darumasan ga koronda in the middle of the choreo [@1:17] - I thought that was embedded in nicely. Also nice fun expressions from asuka.
