Yup, this year. Thanks to Eizouken. But however, Ume catching up doesn't mean Kubo isn't popular. To say her popularity isn't enough to give her front row position is an understatement.

I don't know if they were making a statement about 3ki vs 4ki but moreo that they wanted Zukki to be flanked by two 3ki and they wanted two 1ki on the ends. If front had been 7 members, we probably would have seen both Sakura and Kakki up front.

Would you swap out Ikuta and Asuka?

They've all been handshake sellers from the beginning. That's the power of 3rd Gen. Umezawa, while deserving and it's great to see her catching up this year, still would be 5 or 6 in 3rd Gen pecking order -- Renka's there as well.

There's something I don't get from this announcement.
You can see that there's not all members together at the same time when they announce the senbatsu, there are different members at different times.
But when Mizuki is called as center, you can see that the members there together are exactly the 19 senbatsu ones. But it's strange cause, for example, when Seimiya and Mayu were called, the members there were different, but then we see them again with senbatsu group, when Mizuki is called as center.

Perhaps they called the senbatsu members first then gathered those members and announced the positioning later on.

It’s very unfortunate that Junna and Reina keep getting snubbed. Senbatsu entry must feel really out of reach to them.

They separate them by generation , then all the girls that will be in senbatsu will move to the nxt room

I rewatched it , Zukki is with the 3rd gen when her name called

Yeah, they split them with 1/2 ki, 3ki and 4ki for the announcement. And then they put all the 19 senbatsu members together and repeat the annoucement.
It's unfortunate cause Mizuki's reaction isn't the one when she was called first with 3ki then, but the one when she already knew she was called for center.

I think it's more likely Maichun will be next one out after this single is out. She'll be 29 in January. So Kiichan will be back, but only after they make some room.

When a popular member like Hoshino is in 3rd row , thats the reality on how tough the competition on entering senbatsu and Fukujjn

That could be the case. I think they were in different rooms. Then in each group, Senbatsu members are called to go to another room. See they are not seated in order of their position. And when Yamashita was called on that clip, it must be announcing she will be the center.

Actually it could be Kiichan. She said on her 755 she's still 'rewrite' her blog. Zakki also said something like 'enjoy your time..'

Would be shame if so. It would feel like it was out of frustration more than anything, but the way 2nd gen has been treated, it would be hard to blame her.

I think the room is the same. maybe when they're on the seats split by generations, it's just been announced which members from each gen are on senbatsu for this single, and then, with 19 senbatsu members, he announced the positions of each member. That would make sense too.
