As 2016 is coming to an end, I think it’s a great time to discuss about all single releases of the year and choose the top 5 songs including A-side + B-side.

It’s impressive the amount of songs that is released every year and I would say it’s really likely that one of these songs got stuck in your head forever.

KwM is such a great song for me!!! Love the MV and the song and Sakura as center! It's just a great!!
The other ones I don't know if they are like the best thing ever, but are the songs that are on loop on my phone and i really like them!

1. Kimi wa Melody - This was my favorite, purely musically, for its springtime feel and uplifting melody. I didn't care as much for trotting out all the graduates but I suppose it was inevitable for the 10th anniversary shenanigans.
2. Boku wa inai - NMB's A-sides are usually pretty good but this one, for Milky's graduation, is really beautiful. It's just a well-composed song.
3. Chicken LINE - I love the Latin influence on this song musically. Even if the lyrics are kind of dumb, the song flows so well and it's really fun.
4. BLACK FLOWER - in a year lacking notable B-sides, this one is very cool because it's so different from anything we've heard before. It's creepy and interesting.
5. Doutonbori yo, nakasete kure! - I love the organ sound in this song. It reminds me of A Whiter Shade of Pale.The lyrics are very nice too.

Unfortunately, for me, this year HKT didn't really turn out any super notable songs. I hope they can do a bit better next year.

Speaking of which, I hope someone digs up the hopes, fears and predictions thread for 2017. @ForrestFuller did it last year I think...but it might be too early to do it yet since there is at least Kouhaku left for major announcements.

Max Toki is indeed a really good song! After almost everyone voting for it, I've listened again. Sure it had an a-side potential.

I didn't pay attention when I watched the documentary but it's really a very good song!

 

While Hikari to Kage no Hibi is a good song, anyone else feel they ripped off too much from the Jackie Chan/Kim Hee Sun "Myth" OST?

Sorry for being NMB trash but I mean I guess they are the 48s I follow also because I like their music most to be fair haha

1. Ima Naraba - Sayaka's very first composition that she revealed to fans before her album release and also the song to listen to for all my SayaMilky feels. And where I sit down and emo in the bus; it's a really heartwarming and touching song. I enjoy it instrumental too
2. Shigamitsuita Seishun - I just really like the nostalgic bittersweet feel of this song but it's also a bright positive song facing the future. The PV and all the NMB girls' precious smiles too ;_;
3. 365 Nichi no Kami Hikouki (SOLO) - I loved the original as well, but Sayaka's solo version brought it up to an even different level. Especially the piano intro!! It was really simple but so beautiful. In fact I think Sayaka's solo version had prettier arrangement than the original.
4. Yume no Nagori - Milky's graduation solo song that's actually my fav graduation solo song up to date. There was just something very hauntingly beautiful about the whole song and it really matched her voice so well. That chill I get when I listen to it even now ;_;
5. Boku wa Inai - Milky's graduation single. I actually enjoyed this entire single but this imo has been one of NMB's best A-sides in recent years. Just like Yume no Nagori, there is such a melancholic mysterious feel to it; it's just something Milky's voice does (since she starts the song). It makes me super emo listening to it, but I do love it and it was a fitting tribute to Milky's legacy ;_;

Can't think of a top 5, can't say there have been any other songs I've listened to on purpose out of this years releases. Sad!

Sakamichi groups saved this year for me.

 

1. Densetsu no sakana (it has the typical AKB feeling to me plus I really like the Undergirls unit this year)
2. Kin no ai, gin no ai (my summer song #1, I danced through the hotel room while listening to it)
3. Max toki 315-go (everytime I listen to it, the pure NGT girls come to my mind and I'm so proud of them I will cry)
4. Boku wa inai (It's just... worth it.)
5. Saikou kayo (makes me happy no matter when, just like Melon Juice, I have to sing and clap along)

It seems, from this insanely small pool, that people actually liked TwI cause i remember when it was released, lot of people were complaining (probably not because of the song itself, but cause people were expecting summer bikini single)
