History

DEL48 (short for Delhi48) was an Indian Idol Group produced by Akimoto Yasushi and the 8th international sister group of AKB48. The 1st generation members were announced on December 30, 2019. On October 9, 2020, their producer announced indefinite suspension of the group's activity due to the Impacts of COVID-19 Pandemic. On July 13, 2022, the official cessation of activities was announced.
Overview
- The logo color is based on the image of the saffron color (power and courage) and white (peace and truth) of the Indian flag.
- On October 16, 2020, DEL48 posted a Facebook post, saying they are suspending all activities due to Impacts of COVID-19 Pandemic but states this is only a hiatus.
- On October 09, 2020, all the members graduated from the group due to the company not being able to continue.

Temporarily Suspension of all DEL48 activities
In light of the ongoing development resulting from the Coronavirus, related decisions made by the Indian Health Ministry, and out of abundance of caution we announce the temporary suspension of India’s female Idol group named DEL48 based out of Gurugram, India.
Due to the global spread of COVID-19, many businesses across India have been affected and forced to take unwanted decisions. Our firm, "YKBK48 entertainment" has also been affected since the Indian Health Ministry has called for the ban on all events. Therefore, at this time we cannot assure any further artist activities. We regret to inform you that we have no other choice but to temporarily suspend all DEL48 activities from 5th October 2020 onwards until further notice.
During this unpredictable time, we fully support all the measures to protect the health and welfare of our artists and beyond. While we understand that this temporary suspension of DEL48 is daunting for the fans and associated businesses who anticipated their success, kindly take note that once the COVID-19 situation is under control we would like to recommence their activities. We shall notify the date of resumption at the right time.

New Delhi, 13th July 2022: We regret to inform you that YKBK48 Entertainment Pvt Ltd, holder of the DEL48 & MUB48 brands, will be closing up its operations.
A nearly four-year-old Company, YKBK48 Entertainment Pvt Ltd cited COVID as the reason for the cessation of its activities and subsequent permanent closure.
Shortened from ‘Delhi’ and ‘Mumbai’ respectively, ‘DEL48’ & ‘MUB48’ was premised on the concept of ‘Idols you can meet’, with the aim to create India’s next biggest female idols. The Group was slated to be involved in diverse entertainment industry activities including theater performances, concerts, music record release, movie, fans event, media appearance (TV, newspaper, magazine, radio, web etc.), corporate tie-ups etc.
We started with 22 artist and started our operation from November 2019, however, due to Covid situation in India since March 2020, we have not been able to bounce back to start the operation. After the release of Kade Haan Kade Naa, we were planning to start the operation, however, due to unstable situation of Covid in India, we are decided to close the work of DEL48 and MUB48.
