GNZ48 (short for Guangzhou48) is a Chinese idol group. Including BEJ48, this is one of the first sister groups of SNH48. The group has their own theater, located in the Zhongtai International Plaza in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. Together with BEJ48, the first members were revealed on April 20, 2016.

Overview

• Like BEJ48, the first members were transferred from SNH48 5th and 6th generation.
• Since GNZ48 is not part of AKB48 Group their team names followed the order of SNH48's existing teams, creating Team G, Team NIII and Team Z.
  • Team NIII's name follows after NMB48's Team N and SNH48's Team NII.

Differences from sister groups

• Unlike the rest of the SNH48 Group, GNZ48 is the only one that regularly sings in a different language, Cantonese.
• As of 2022, it is the only SNH48 sister group that has not had any changes in its team structure.
• In addition to Teams G, NIII and Z, they also have special teams called "Class": Class 4 and Class 8. These classes were created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the high absence of members the teams were incomplete, so the creation of these special teams gave new opportunities in presentations.
• It is the only group that has a trainee selection, similar to AKB48's Kenkyuusei Selection.
