The MNL48 Senbatsu Election (MNL48選抜総選挙) (also known as MNL48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo) is an annual event where fans can vote for their favorite MNL48 member, analogous to a popularity contest. The members who receive the most votes are announced on the day of the election, but votes are submitted beforehand. Unlike the elections of the other groups, MNL48's election will determine who will be the official members of the whole year until the next election. If a member didn't rank, they will forcibly be graduating from the group.
Currently, the members who have the most votes are then grouped into: Senbatsu (#1~#16), Undergirls (#17~#32), and Next Girls (#33~#48). Only the Senbatsu and Undergirls will release their own song and music video for the following single.
