Senbatsu (Kanji: 選抜) is a term used by STU48 and it's sisters groups to refer to the members selected to be featured in the A-side of a single. The term can be extended to refer to members selected for performances, events, B-sides on AKB48 singles and concerts as well. In ‘’’STU48’’’, senbatsu usually has 16 members, but the group had senbatsu as big as 28 members.
The term Center (センター) is used to describe the main member in a single's senbatsu. The 'center' gets center position in the formation of the members, and also gets most media exposure for that single. The term is also used for B-Sides and stage songs, for example. The Center position can also be shared by multiple members, usually no more than two - known as a WCenter (Wセンタ "Double Center"). Center usually refers to the member(s) whom the dance formation gives greater focus on.
