AKB48
AKB48 is a idol group based in Akihabara and produced by Akimoto Yasushi, signed under King Records, originally from DefSTAR RECORDS/Sony Music Japan. The group, established in 2005, currently consists of three teams, Team A, Team K and Team B. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members, and the Team Kaigai members, summing up a total of 83 members as of December, 2012. Currently, they hold the record of having the highest overall single sales of a female group on the Oricon charts. The group also holds the Guinness World Record for being the world's "largest pop group"
SKE48
SKE48 is a idol group based in Sakae and produced by Akimoto Yasushi, signed under avex trax, originally from Nippon Crown records (until May 28, 2011). The group, established in 2008, currently consists of three teams, Team S, Team KII and Team E. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members and summing up a total of 62 members as of October, 2012.
NMB48
NMB48 is a idol group based in Osaka and produced by Akimoto Yasushi, signed under laugh out loud records. The group currently consists of three teams, Team N, Team M and Team BII. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members and summing up a total of 58 members as of October, 2012.
HKT48
HKT48 is a idol group based in Fukuoka and produced by Akimoto Yasushi, signed under Universal Music Japan. Only Team H was announced. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members and summing up a total of 39 members as of October, 2012.
SDN48
SDN48 is a idol group produced by Akimoto Yasushi and signed under Universal Music Japan. SDN48 is known to be the mature version of AKB48 with members aged 20 and above, they perform in the AKB48 theater throughout the week. The group's members are currently divided into 1st Generation, 2nd Generation and 3rd Generation. All the members graduated from the group on March 31, 2012.

SNH48 is a Chinese idol group based in Shangai and produced by Akimoto Yasushi. The group it is the second AKB48's sister group outside of Japan. Currently all the 26 members are Research Students. The group also have two Team Kaigai members.
Nogizaka46
Nogizaka46 (乃木坂46) is a idol group produced by Akimoto Yasushi and it's the first rival group from AKB48. The members were announced on June 29, 2011. Currently all the members are from 1st Generation.
