• October 10 - A new sister group to be based in the Setouchi region is announced at the 2016 Janken Tournament

2017

• January 5-February 5 - Applications open
• February 22 - Okada Nana and Sashihara Rino are announced as concurrent members of STU48 plus AKB48 and HKT48 respectively. Additionally, Nana would be the captain and Rino the theater manager of the group.
• March 19 - 44 applicants pass the auditions
• March 31 - STU48 1st Generation is announced with 31 members

2018

• January 21 - STU48 holds their first stand-alone solo concert, STU48 Tandoku Concert ~Fan ni Natte Kudasai~
• January 21 - 3rd Draft members (5) are announced as STU48 Kenkyuusei:
  • Oki Yuka, Shinano Soraha, Nakamura Mai, Mizoguchi Aiko, Yura Akari
• January 16 - STU48 starts airing their first independent variety show, SETOBINGO!. The show aired 11 episodes
• January 31 - STU48 releases their first original single, Kurayami, with Takino Yumiko as center
• April 14 - It is announced by the group's theater manager that their theater - a sailing ship in the Setouchi region - would open in summer 2018, but due to floods in Japan, this was later postponed to spring 2019
• March 25 - Ozaki Mami graduates from STU48
• April 13 - Cho Orie graduates from STU48
• April 14 - The release date of STU48's 2nd single is moved from August 29, 2018 to February 13, 2019
• July 22 - Shioi Hinako graduates from STU48
• September 8 - STU48 kicks off their charity tour STU48 Charity Concert Tour "Ganbarou! Setouchi"
• October - STU48 announces 5 thematic units. All currently active members join one of these units:
  • Katte ni! Shikoku Kanko Taishi, STUDIO, Charming Trip, Seto7 and Setomaiku
• December 30 - STU48 wins the Best New Artist Awards at the 60th Japan Record Awards. This makes them the first 48 Group to achieve this distinction

2019

• February 13 - STU48 releases their second single, Kaze wo Matsu, with Takino Yumiko as center
• March 10 - Mizoguchi Aiko graduates from STU48
• March 31 - STU48 celebrates their 2nd anniversary with the STU48 2nd Anniversary Concert
• April 13 - Sano Haruka graduates from STU48
• April 16 - STU48's ship, the STU48-go, opens for the first time with the setlist STU48 GO!GO! little SEABIRDS!!
• May 6 - Sugahara Saki graduates from STU48
• June 16 - STU48 ranks for the first and only time in the AKB48 Senbatsu Election, with Takino Yumiko ranking 74th and Ishida Chiho ranking 99th
• July 31 - STU48 releases their third single, Daisuki na Hito, with Takino Yumiko as center. The sub-units formed in October 2018 all have their own song
• August 3 - 3 members of the 3rd Draft are promoted to full members:
