Audition AKB48 16th Generation Auditions Thread

Hm, true. I was counting from auditions but I suppose that's weird.

 

Hopefully we pick 18 members.

 

Today (September 24th) were the interviews in Tokyo.

Can someone translate it? It seems it will be the final round. But we can't know the date, right?

With my very limited Japanese, I think it's says in Tokyo (I'm assuming the location where the interview and audition will be?), they are in the middle of contacting the applicants. Contacted applicants have to be at the location on the day they're told to. Both that round and the final round needs a guardian to accompany them. Feel free to correct me if I made any mistakes because I read the kanjis (and some of the hiragana) and use common sense to "assemble" them.

I haven't seen any names yet. The 69 applicants on Showroom are just identified by number for now.

I was thinking about that as well.

With the Sakamichi only a few were dropped, but 69... I know AKB needs new members but they don't need 50.

I still think that mirroring the 1st gen and getting 21 would be nice.
If they're spread evenly among the teams, each would get at least 5 when promoted (4 isn't in need of many though), so they could hold the fort until 17th comes around.

But yeah, a big gen is coming for sure.

 

If there are 69 members, I think they should select something like 20 members. It's necessary, especially if they're going to wait 3 years again for another gen. Right now, AKB really really needs more members (each team has too little members) and yet at the same time, there will be more graduations especially in the next 2 years... So 20 members in 16th gen would be good, I think.

 

Even if they accept 20 there's no guarantee they'll all get promoted to full members, so 20 might be cutting it a little close.

 

If they announce 20 new members there will be 20 kks.

There are no more kks selections, so another case of the "8th gen" is improbable.
Plus, they can always introduce others at a later time like they did with Makiho and Miyabi if they want to test them first (although I have no idea how they did it then).
