While I was in Malaysia last month, i foudn that to be totally true. Was so disappointing!! Even Jpop stuff in general is in such small amounts compared to *yawn* Kpop.
Can't be helped i guess *sigh*....seems like it's not just Malaysia that are experiencing Kpop wave right now, I know Philliphines got hit the hardest On the other hand, i'm kinda glad that i'm one of a few Malaysians that's enjoying AKB48 fandom while the others are stuck with Kpop. It feels like it's kinda exclusive for us and us only
Friend in Thailand says its the same there too..nothing but Kpop [sealed] I have found Malaysia to not be too into Jpop generally (only into those big artists like Ayu & Utada) as I remember last time I was buying a Heartsdales album from a CD shop and the sales guy was like "Eh? buy Ayumi better lah..." I just gave him a [wonder] look lol. True though, better we have exclusivity in AKB than common Kpop
Its true. Kpop is way too big here. Jpop fan is almost non-existent though j-drama, anime, manga has tons of followers. I had some friend who listen to Jrock but they never claimed themselves as jrock fan like most Kpop fan. The only japanese song that normal malaysian might know is Mirae by Kiroro (for some reason this is quite famous) or some anime song (naruto, bleach). No wonder jpn artist never come here.

hi... im new here...omg, i just found out bout this page. so....AKB48's malaysia fans does exist. anyway, im upset that malaysia don't have strong fanbase of jpop but kpop got like tons of them.. (eventhough i support both) anyway, bcoz we are a few, that's what make us special.. hehehe... but when the fanbase is weak, they wont come here to promote.. ah... it's good if we have cafe+store like in SG. jealous of SG fans..

AKB48 Malaysia fans DOES exist You can find many (or perhaps most) of them in MSA48 FB group http://www.facebook.com/groups/131897956887335/ I agree with you. If they're not coming here at least make AKB cafe in Malaysia just like they did in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. It's gonna help Aki-P a lot in promoting AKB48 and all their sister groups in SE Asia. I don't want him to try make a 48 group in our country though, considering Malaysia political background and society in general, it's not really a wise idea
